So, I've been looking on here and jeepkj but, not a lot of people have lifted a Limited kj. I'm trying to find a decent tire that's not going to look like I took them off a minivan. The stock size is just too small with Rusty's 2.5" strut/coil lift but, I don't want to have to do a LOT of trimming/pounding if I can avoid it and I can't really afford new rims. So any suggestions for tires that will fit the 17"s, give good traction in most conditions (everything but deep mud around here) and fit my lifted Ltd without rubbing too much? I'll trim if I gotta but don't wanna.

I'm still running the stock tires but have been spending quite a bit of time researching my options for the 17" rim. With the lift you should be able to run a 245/70/17 very comfortably. You may need to pound down the pinch weld, though. The size would be comparable to running a 245/75 on a 16 inch rim.

Tire options greatly expand when you move up from the 65 to the 70 profile and include moderate treads like the Goodyear Silent Armor, Mickey Thompson ATZ, Cooper Discoverer ST, Bridgstone Revo and Firestone Destination A/T. If you want more serious tread you can go with the Firestone Destination M/T, Cooper Discoverer SST and Courser C/T.

For my needs (which don't include mud), I keep coming back to the Goodyear Silent Armor.

Unfortunately for us 17 " users, the General AT2 and BFG KO A/T & M/T and the Goodyear MTR are just not available in a small enough size unless you really want to push the envelope and go with a 265/75 or larger.

I don't understand what you mean about not many lifted Limiteds. I'd say that there are as many lifted Ltds as any other model.

If you're just concerned about 17" rims as opposed to 16", you just need to look for a tire with a diameter between 30" and 31" to avoid excessive rubbing. A 245/70R17 would be roughly equivalent to a 245/75R16, which is what most people run with a 2.5" lift.

You can get Firestone Destination A/T's in that size, or 245/65R17 if you want to stay under 30". You'd probably want to avoid BFG T/As (too square) and MTs (too aggressive) if you're concerned about rubbing.

Thanks guys. You just helped me confirm what I was thinking. I want to go with the 245/70 and I keep coming back to the Silent Armors, too. Nice to have second opinions, though. Much appreciated.

I have the 05 Limited. Right now it isn't lifted but it will be. If you look at the bottom of this post you will see the tires I have on. There is a tiny little bit of rubbing. Nothing to worry about. Oh, I do like the tires a lot!

Ive got the slient armors ( on a stock kj) ANd i love them. An excellent all around tire with good offroad traction.!

Do you have any photos? I have the 05 Limited 17X7.5 wheels with 245/65R17's. I would really like to see what they look like with the 1.25" spacers. I still have a little room to spare before I'll rub.
