Yup. The collar is aluminum which is what the diff housing is made of.

I just purcashed the steel collar from McMaster-Carr for $37.95 plus shipping. The part number is 60665K61. It's 3.5" bore, 4.75" OD and 7/8" wide. I'll have it machined out to 3 9/16 before I install. BTW, I have a CRD.

Info from the previous group buy, some one wanted a steel collar (which to me makes more sense) but steel on aluminum does not to well due to material reaction/corrosion.

Just a legal disclaimer to cover my stupid...people are sue happy so I need to say this.

These collars are not guaranteed to stop differential failure. There has been a consensus here on LOST that a collar MIGHT help reinforce the diff shaft against failure. There has never been any scientific study or testing done to prove that a collar stops the differential failure. With that said, many people are running with collars on and no one has indicated that they had a differential fail with the collar on. By participating in this group buy, you acknowledge that I am not held responsible for damages incurred due the installation or use with the collar on.

I hate to go all "legal" on ya'll, but it had to be done. I only offered this group buy to try to save some money for myself and others who want a collar.

4 more days to place your order!

Sue happy people piss me off. I wish I had a buck for evertime I have had to sign a release, carry liability insurance, or deal with some ignorant bueracrat, in order to go into some climbing areas or obtain kayaking access. Personal reponsibilty!!! No one has it anymore. They want everthing to be someone else's fault.

There are waterfalls and rivers that are illegal to run because someone might get hurt and sue. Boaters never sue. We know that we are paying in a very dangerous arena. The people that make the rules are clueless! They have no understanding of the sport. They look at something and say wow thats dangerous. A experienced boater looks at it and says wow what a cool easy and fun drop!! Lets run it! Then the ranger shows up and writtes you a ticket for running "unrunnable section of river". You have toy go to court and prove you are still alive so therefor it is runnable and can't be restricted. Stupid.

If our system just told people you are reposbible for your own actions we would all be much better off and have more freedoms as well.

Sorry for the vent but I hate this "land of the laywer" crap.

Send me a PM with your address and I'll send you a quote with the shipping. You will need to get the payment out today so that I can get it before I place the order.

Monday...I am waiting for a money order to show up in the mail (should be today.) Once I receive it, I'll place the order. Thanks everyone for their great communication and quick payment.

With that said, could everyone who sent me a payment send me a PM confirming their shipping name and address? I was cleaning up my PMs (was exceeding my quota with all of the collar messages), and I accidentally erased some of your PMs with names and adresses. Now I'm not sure whose info I have and who I don't have. Thanks!

I ordered the collars today. I am waiting for a call back from the hardware store to let me know what the lead time is until they are delivered. It was 2-3 weeks lead time 1-1/2 weeks ago, so I'm hoping to receive them in a week or two. I'll let you know!

Oh yeah...thanks to hooperswish's order, we did get a total of 8 orders, so we should get the lower price which means you will be receiving three crisp one dollar bills in your package for the refund.

Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since the order was placed. I have not heard from the hardware dealer yet, but he did say when I ordered that the manufacturer said the order would be filled in 2-3 weeks. If I haven't heard anything by Friday, I will call them to see if we can get an updated ETA.
