OK ladies and gents, got a quesiton, how do I mount hella 500s on my Mopar Tubular bull bar? There are no tabs/pre drilled holes for the lights to mount to, and the mounting bolt on the hella 500s is too short for the cross bar on the bull bar....What do I do?

Got a pic of the place where you want to mount them? Just drill your own holes and go to a hardware store to get longer bolts, or fab up an extension. Doesn't sound like it would be too difficult to do, but knowing me, it would probably entail a major undertaking, lol

Also, my father brought up an idea. Mount the Hella's to the bumpber behind the bar. Any takers?
Anyone got ideas how to mount to the bar or does the idea of behind the bar sound better?[[/img]

Holy sh*t.. That is short! It is even shorter than my new cross bars on the roof. There is no way I can mount them like that.
I know many people mounted them on bumpers, rails, bars, etc.. and I am very sure their mounting locations needed longer bolt! Here is a puzzler.. :x

I cant really see what type of "bull bar " you have BUT if it one of those that just bolts on wher the tow hooks go you can drill down through the bumper into the frame and install that way. SOMEWHERE there are measurements that show the distance out from the grill etc. I will try and find them again or someone may beat me to it!

Can you post the picture of the hella from the back?
Remember you can move that bracket, just for additional options.

Oh, it is so not like what I expected.
I am not sure how it will work. Those who mounted on the bumper, I just wonder if they used this one, it looks pretty short to mount on the bumper. As for mounting on the mopar bullbar, you could buy another U bracket and mount it there, and connect lights to that mounting bracket. I am sure there is an easy way..

Thanks for the pic.

I think you can get some mounts that go around the bull bar and have a tab that you bolt the light to.

Here is a link for a PIAA version, not sure if it is compatible.

That doesn't appear to be a difficult issue or a difficult install.
Options are
1) match up longer bolts (long enough to go through bull bar or what ever)...
2) weld tabs on the bull bar (even if you don't weld- it shouldn't be expesive for someone if you have to pay them).
3) attach to the bumper

Just get a longer stainless bolt.

Just a thought, is there enough room for a carriage bolt head to fit in the place of the flat head original bolt?

I would not want to weld or drill on the chrome plated bar.

How would you replace the bolt on the hellas? It doesn't look like you can just screw it off.

Yes the bolt just screws off.....The only problem I have with drilling the holes is that when i use the washer and bolt to secure it, it will be hanging below the bar and youll be able to see it

That's right, unless you bolt it in front of the bar, and get drill it towards the grill.

Look in this picture at the bolt that goes left & right. Take that apart and replace the lower one with the longer one. Then reassemble.
