Stock goodyears are also from USA company, but they are terrible. I haven't seen too many KJs run forteras, but from what I heard at the tire stores, (they are really trying to sell them) they are supposed to be very good for true all weather conditions, and well balanced for highway, however no good for off-road (which I don't do much).

I was considering yokohama geolandar A/T-S based on what I heard from drivers of different trucks, including KJs.

When i bought my '02 last year it came with Fortera's on it. OK on the street but during the winter when Denver got a Blizzard every 6th day for 6 weeks I found them to be real crappy in the Snow. I just put Dunlop Rover A/T's (Dunlop is owned by Goodyear), I have only driven them on the street and wet pavement. But I like the way they ride and handle better, I've also been told by other L.O.S.T. members here in Colorado that they saw some used on another Jeep last winter and they did pretty good.
Recomendation don't get street meats get A/T's or something a little more off road ready.

Sorry, dunlops do not come in my size. All they have is street tires for 17"s. Did you have Fortera- triple treads or Fortera- silent armors? There is a significant difference between two.

Out of those three, I'd get the Cooper ATR's. if you plan to wheel, those Fortera TripleTreads aren't gonna do ya much good, you'd be better off with Wrangler Silent Armors if you're sticking wtih Goodyear. the Yokos aren't bad, and they'll probably give you a little better treadwear and pavement traction, so it all depends on what your goals are.

The TripleTreads look cool as doo doo though

Wrangler Silent Armors are not an option with 235 size. I don't plan to wheel much, but I would like to know that it is there in case I need to. Highway traction and snow traction is important, as it gets messy in the winter.

The Forteras look like the tread on my parents' Audi TT Needless to say, it stays home when there's more than an inch of snow on the ground Since you said you do the clear majority of your driving on the street, I'd go with the Coopers. I can't find it, but I read awhile back in someone's post that the ATRs are really popular in the northeastern US because of the nasty weather you guys get here and there.

coopers have tread depth of 13.5 and has moderate dry and off-road traction when compared to others in its category (from their website) with T speed, 50k warranty,

yokos have tread depth of 13, possibly giving tiny better highway traction, less swaying, obvious from higher speed rating of H with 40k warranty.

I just don't want my jeep sliding sideways when I take a turn or a curve on the highway doing 50mph (along with other vehicles around me).

I had the triple tread. Yes they look cool, but still didn't ride as well or handle as well. I even had a freind drive my Libby today the first she has driven it since I changed the meats. She responded in kind. The Dunlop Rover A/T's were a smoother ride and handled better. I've run Good Years for years and the only other make of tire that I've ever been more dissapointed in were in 2 different cases Michellan. I'll never waste my money on them ever again. Even the local Big "O" tire rep I talked to bad mouthed Michellan. But I digress, even if you drive most of the time on the street. It's a Jeep and designed for a sturdier tire, if it was based off a car chasis Rav4 or what ever get a street tire. It's a Jeep so buy tires designed for a Jeep, you and your Libby will be happier in the long run

i personally would go with the yoko's except for the the geolander AT+II. my bro has had them on his cherokee for about 40k miles and they arent that much louder than the street tires.

i have the geolander a/t's on my libby, very smooth ride on the highway. Also good wet traction and they grib very well in trails.

Lol, Jeeps are designed for certain tires? Maybe the suspension was designed for tougher work and more articulation, but no the suspension wasn't designed for a certain tread pattern and compound...sorry.

Hyde-I've heard raves about the Coopers, I'd go with them.

Coopers sidewalls seem pretty unprotected, compared to other options.
Today I saw an f250 with Scorpion STRs, those tires look great, but the shops here and tire rack stopped carrying them for some reason..

You mean like how they come with Wrangler ST's and SR-A's? Goodyear has nothing that I'd personally buy, aside from the Eagle ResponsEdge (and that's not an off road tire)

Michelin Cross Terrains, Uniroyal Cross Countrys, Yoko Geolandar HT/S's for street driving, great. the TripleTread Goodyears suck everywhere aside from inclement weather. My buddy's wife's Windstar has the Assurance TripleTreads and they're noisier than my Discoverer ST's...

I've had a love/hate relationship with my Discoverer ST's. Wet traction blows, but once they got a couple thousand on em the dry traction improved. Revos are goin on in a couple thousand, and that's what I'd recommend over anything else.

Thanks thunder junkie, unfortunately revos are not an option with my size.

Regarding yokos, there is a huge difference between HTS and ATS, but I am not sure how they will do in my driving conditions and behavior. I don't want to end up losing dry and highway traction just for the sake of extra control in winter. Honestly, I was very happy with the way my GY Wrangler HPs handled for the first 10-15k, they drove me through 2 ft of snow for two winters, after that it went down hill. They are still great in dry weather and highway driving, I cannot complain, however when it comes to slightest wetness on the road, they are all over the place. So I wanted something they will not compromise either one, and will not excel in either category. All Terrain, All Weather tires are my best bet. I also considered michelin tires as well, but then price held me back for now, and lack of good tread pattern to drive me through deep snow.

With the way Yoko A/T-S's look, would anyone say there would be a problem with highway driving. Again, they are H-Speed rated.

as stated before, i have been on the highway quite a few times in my yoko at's. In dry and wet, the ride is very smooth and handles fine in the wet also.
