240/70R16 vs 225/75R16 on a general grabber AT2

so, I'm debating on if I should change from my stock tire size (225's) on my 05 CRD. I do mostly on-road driving, but with the occasional jaunt off-road. Mostly established fire-road or somewhat maintained trails. The diameters are a wash, so I'm interested in y'all's oppinions on wear, handling, mileage, traction, mud performance, rain performace, etc between the two sizes of the same tire.

about an inch difference in width is all I can see wear should really be about the same also, some swear by a narrow tire so at this point basically up to you!

I went with 235/75/16s and they fit my CRD with no lift. They fill the wheewell much better and do not rub. They are 29.82" so you gain about .4" of lift.

Hercules Terra Trac ATs and Toyo Open Country ATs both come in that harder to find size. I got the Hercules and an VERY HAPPY with them. The advantage to the "75" series is the sidewall is stronger, taller and rated for more weight.

The 235/75/16 is what Jeep should have put on stock.

If I get generals its gonna be 225's. But I am leaning heavily towards the Herc's right now...with 45K on the stockers the decision will have to come soon.

The only thing that makes it a hard choice is that those Generals look so darn good!

Jeger, the Hercules look good on the blackwall side...but also have OWL on the other side that look great!

go with 245/70/r16s on the stock KJ and you won't regret it. Not only looks vastly better, rides better too. IO believe they are 29.8 inches so your are within any rubbing limits. I have 245/70s on my stock 03 KJ and they rock without rubbing.

Ditto. I ran 245/70R16 before my lift. The KJ never handled better, and the tires filled out the wheel well nicely.
