So a neighbor of mine who used to build Libertys, but now is retired, is always stopping by to see what I am doing. Last night he said you know after looking at yours with that front bumper you really need to get one for the rear, told him about the RL and its on my list, but then he said have you thought about cutting off the bottom of the stock one to match more of the heighth of the front! ???

So now whats everyone think? It would not help out on the trail I know, but for looks it may be something to think about , anyone ever done it or thought about it? Comments? Already thought about the license plate but just trimming 2/3 inches off would make a big difference in the looks. :? something to think about over the weekend.

The problem with that is that bottom of the bumper curves inward towards the body to provide a closed appearance. If you trim off even a little bit you'd have a gaping hole in the bottom for sure.

Would you continue the trimming around to the bottom of the rear fenders? Or just step it down at the side? Maybe someone could photoshop an image for you.

IF someone please could photoshop it that would be cool, take 3 inches off or so, and why would there be a gapping hole? There is none with the RL ?? Also I would take the same 3 to 4 inches all the way around. The neighbor just got me to thinking, rear bumper is junk anyways!

So any one can phto shop me a couple rear and side views ??

Tom

I respectfully recommend not doing any trimming until you have the funds to get the RL's. At that point you can always order the new bumper and enjoy the results. Nothing worse then having done a MOD and hating the results and then counting the minutes till you can make it right. You have been L.O.S.T. alot longer then I have so don't get me wrong you have way more experience with your Libby then I have with mine. Just a freindly 2 cents worth. I have done some mods on other rides and then kicked myself on a dailey basis till I had the funds to fix what I had done. Good Luck 8)

Like I said the neighbor got me thinking about doing it, the rear bumper is a piece of crap anyways, I can always replace it if it does look worse than it does now. Oh well if some one does photo shop it great otherwise i will keep it on a possible list of what to do when I am really bored!
