I think I've asked this some time ago but can't find the post.

I'd like to know what the maxuim size tyre the KJ has stated on the placard, it may be that the size has changed for the 05+ models or it may not have. Any help would be good, also a link to a web page stating what a Jeep KJ can fit (Manufacturor site would be best, but I can't find one).

It's mainly what Jeep say's you can do, not what we really do that I'm interested in.

I'm running 265/70/16 on 16x8 Soft 8's (4.5" B/S), flat pinch weild & bent upper pinch weild in the rear wheel arch. I'm just tyring to avoid an engineering report.

Yep just checked mine, it only has one tyre rating 235/70/16. The import placard aslo has the same size 235/70/16, strange. I'd have thought that there would be more size's stated on it, all I need it to say is 245. That would make one less problem with the RTA over here.

Well, I've been thinking about putting more lift in the back of the KJ & if so I'd need an engineering cert + blue slip. So talking with Ed our conversation moved onto wheels & tyres (he's considering sizes for his next set). Anyway, (cutting short) he had a link to an RTA Standards policy for what you can change without requiring a blue slip & informing the RTA. So as I've changed my rims & rubber I thought I should get a copy and have a read. Thus I'm thinking I'm a little over some of the requirements, they don't say you can't do it. It's just that they say you need to have it looked at to ensure it's safe.

This is the link: http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/ ... 9_rev4.pdf your tyres are fine from what this say's but mine may be just over + the new rims are moving things out so I need to get the tape measure out. Cmohr, pointed out that the lift may have helped me in this way as it will have reduced the track width a little giving me more room to play with.

At the end of the day, the KJ is our family car 1st & my toy 2nd. So if anything bad was to happen I want to make sure the Insurance company would come to the party.
