I want XM or sirius in my KJ. 2005 CRD sport , factory stereo. When going through the 'mode' functions, SAT comes up and the channels on the presets are in the 100's so I am assuming that is some form of satellite radio. I bought the KJ used so i do not know for sure. What do I need to to do to get it connected. The webpages for sirius and XM do not say anything about Jeeps with exixting satellite radios, naturally they want you to buy a receiver and kit...anybody else gone though this process? Thanks..

If you have a sat antenna on the back roof, then you probrably have a sat receiver. Call either an tell them you have a receiver in a car you bought used and want to activate it. XM or Sirius, not a big difference, besides they are about to merge.

I believe it is a seperate box under the rear passenger seat (drivers side) if it is there. If you run a parts searcha t JP Products or another Jeep dealer web site you will see a picture of it. You could also go to a dealer and get a "build list" and see if it shipped with one.

When you call Sirius to activate it they are going to need the ECN number from your factory stereo. I forget how to do it but the owners manual will tell you. It's a 12 digit (???) number. It's probably also printed on one of the labels on the back of the unit too but there's a way to have it show up on the display.

Sorry, still mildly confused.. So in order to have sattellite capabilities, I must have some receiver and antena in addition to the stereo and associated antena? Even though there is a SAT function in the stereo "modes?" Guess I could call a dealership, but that is usually futile.

Thanks in advance...

JR

Yes, you need a sirius satellite receiver (~$150) and it includes the antenna that you must route to the outside. There are cheaper ways of doing the same thing, but this will give you the cleanest look (No extra external control to mount somewhere on your dash) and best sound (no fm transmitter, it's directly wired). Your radio has SAT functions, but this is only 1/2 the battle as it will not operate without the extra receiver and antenna. [/quote]

I have Sirus on my 06 CRD. If you have it the reciever is behind the plastic cover in the right rear quarter panel. There's also a small black plastic antenna just in front of the black glass in the center of the roof. When you put the radio into SAT mode it goes to channel 184 when it's not activated in their system. That is like a information station
You can go to a dealer parts department and ask them to print out a"build sheet" that will tell you what's on your JK

We have XM and it integrates with the factory deck, switches over to Sat with the mode button.
We used this:
