How to tell if its rubbing?

I think my new tires are rubbing at full turn. It is slight rub, just a bit more than what you would call "minor". How can I tell? Do I charcoal it up? Or is there another trick? I had my wife drive it over to the sidewalk and driveway and I noticed it is touching when it hits the bump, I am afraid it is gonna eat it up.

Charcoal it up?? You should be able to tell where it is rubbing by it being shiney where its hitting/rubbing at. It will be shiney no matter if metal or plastic. Can you tell where it is for sure?

That's the thing. It is rubbing only under certain conditions. At full lock or when I am riding over bumps while turning. When I turn and stop, and look, it is so close, it is impossible to rub. So I assume it will be OK.

I checked the wheel wells and there are two lines right above the fog light cover. In the morning when I get out of the parking spot and make a U turn I can hear it makes the sound you mentioned.. It is a jeep thing, hard to explain... Just like everything else, this is not consistent with rest of the stuff...

If its "grabbing" the plastic then you may have to do something, but just rubbing some and it doesnt bug you to much just listen and know that your tires are turning. :lol:

You could heat the plastic up some and push it back just a little though and should take care of it.

That sounds like a good idea, That inner portion is already flexible, just need to make it a bit more flexible.
Is there such a thing as 1/2 inch lift or spacer that won't weaken the stability of the jeep?

It may still rub even if you lift it , just depends on where it is? If you can get a pic maybe of the "spot" Still think that heating it up would work the best..that is if you have a heat gun.

man, the heat gun method really didnt work for me. just cant move it enough to clear these tires... time to get out the dremel i think.

Easy way to do it (if you want to cut it) is heat it up some with the heat gun, then take a carpet knife or whatever knife and slice through, cuts like butter gives you a nice clean cut very easy to do

The fin shaped piece is covering the pinch weld.
