With in the first week of buying my '02 Sport I switched out to PIAA 19617 xtreme white. I had them on my previous ride and liked them better then the Sylvannia. They ain't cheap at $91.95 for a pair, but you get what you pay for. The PIAA name has been around for years for driving , fog and other after market lights. Plus they arnt as pricy as the HID lights for $400.00 to $500.00 for a set of lights. I wanted good light but didn't want to take out a second loan just for lights

I get piaa lights for free. I work in defectives at lordco and we just throw them away once they are written off by the reps. Half of them work fine, either the person bought the wrong piaa light for thei car or their fuse broke and they blamed the light. I found 5 working pairs just for my beretta in 1 bin. So since they are being trashed anyways, i took them home. Had the same "defective burnt out lights" in my ride for 8 months now, still hasnt burnt out.

Congratulations FREE PIAA's sweet. But you didn't state how you liked the perfomance of these bulbs. I would like the feed back from some one else on how they like these bulbs .Of coarse you can't beat free but do you think they are the high quality I think they are??? Or did I just swallow advertisising hype and buy and over priced bulb????

Anyone experiance this, I had my lights adjusted because of a frankenlift, I just got back from Baja, where I drove off road for only 50 miles (real bad road at 45-50 mph). The next time I turned my lights on they both pointed at the road about 8-10 ft in front of the Jeep.? I tried to adjust they but didn't get them pointed high enough, what happened? They are still way out (low).

Maybe this is a generation gap/previous experience sort of thing? Im not that old but my first car was '64 for galaxie and it had those chrome half moon headlight covers...holding a maglight out the window would have been an improvement LOL.

So to me the KJ's lights are great

Anyhow, I didnt know PIAA made bulbs to fit in standard headlights...will have to look into those...

Yep, they are the 9007 style of bulb and the PIAA model #19617. I think you can order on line or check your local 4x4 shop.

Yeah there is something wrong, the stock highbeams stink, the lowbeams are good, however. Those Toyota's have a 4-light system and it will throw light farther than anything short of HIDs and as far the European specs lights on the MB I had. The KJ on high beam is only a tad longer and a bit wider than it is on lowbeam, very underwhelming. On lowbeam, the KJ throws a bigger beam, however.

I agree. The first thing I did with my 03 is change the 9007 bulb to an upgraded Sylvania that produces a much whiter light, see here:
http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProduct ... ilverstar/
That made a considerable improvement, so much that I feel the low beams are good enough now, however when high beam is selected the light seems to just scatter and not focus as well on the road surface.
IMO it may be the way the filament is reacting with the reflector.
Another good bulb upgrade would be a CP9007BL located here:
http://www.rallylights.com/hella/9007.asp It is listed as a +30% bulb.

You know when high is selected you loose the low filament. Keeping the low filament on "with" the high filament would provide better lighting while on high beam.
I was able to do that with one of these: http://www.innovadd.com/3g.ram.bb.stages.html on a Dodge Ram I had and that worked real well. The Ram used the same 9007 bulb the Liberty does. Maybe that company can do a retrofit or who knows, could even be a plug-n-play.

In my case I have opted to supplement the highs with a pair of these:
http://www.rallylights.com/hella/ff1000.asp in a "driving beam"that were on special for just 89.75 for a 2 lamp kit. I inquired if they would take a 100w bulb and while they will, it will void the warranty. After a few emails I learned the standard 55w bulb should be plenty sufficient for street use but if not I will try their HL78149 bulb for that lamp that is listed as a 55w+50% that can be found here:
http://www.rallylights.com/hella/H1.asp

Hope I can find a good clean way to mount them to the stock bumper.

I went FROM Sylvania silverstars TO plain ol' NAPA 9007s and didn't notice much difference at all. Went from the Silverstars to the NAPAs because one burned out, and the NAPA lights were about $4 apiece with my discount

I've had the Silverstars in for almost 4 years with no problems. Also have them in the fog lights but only for about 3 years. I like them, but if/when they burn out I think I'll go with PIAA bulbs.

I had read that SilverStars were only good for about a year and I did lose one after about 13 months. I replaced the still good one and the bad one with Ultras as they have a longer life and I have not had to replace one in over a year. My regular SilverStar fogs are about 18 months old and going strong. I don't think the Ultras are quite the color or brightness of the regular SilverStars but both are brighter then OEM which I thought were pretty good compared to my Taurus!
