Wrong. All performance testing was done by an Independent 3rd party & same testing company that RP could use. Doesn't matter who paid for it. I don't see the other brands doing testing against Amsoil and publicly posting the results. If anything, they show test results w/out naming names, so what do they have to hide? If the results were wrong and the other companies could prove it they would have a case against Amsoil. So where is their comparitive testing results? :?

People hate to find out they are not using the best products and they hate seeing the proof in black and white so they naturally question the results. So why is it so hard to believe that a certain product is better? Just because you didn't see it on a commercial this weekend or see it on the side of a race car? Is it the name? Maybe the marketing? Why does Amsoil show all those other products doing so well in testing but single out Mopar, Lucas & RP as the three worst? Must be a conspiracy.

*sigh* me needs money. Oh well having a gear oil that ranked 2nd to amsoil isnt too shabby lol

Not to mention, its just got some cheapo oil in from the dealership right now and who knows what kind of stuff they used for the diffs so im sure this will be a great improvement over what is in it now.

Definately. If I wanted decent protection for cheap, I would pick the cheapest gear oil from the top 5 on the test list and just change it at regular service intervals.

crap i screwed up! lol. Ok first off, lordco (bc auto parts store) doesnt carry the mobil 1 gear oils. So i went with castrol synetc gear oil.

i got 5 litres of the mobil 1 engine oil and 4 litres of castrol syntec 75w90!

they didnt have any in the 140 for castrol either. I had a choice of that or penzoil synthetic for the 140. So had a brain fart and just bought all castrol in the 75w90. Can it hurt anything using 75w-90 in the front? Or should i take it back and get a cheaper brand for the front diff of the right weight? Also i got an K&N gold series oil filter because they couldnt get a wix one in until the middle of next week.

I have to go back there at 1:30 anyways to grab the pcv valve when it comes in so i can get them to credit my account and exchange the oil for the proper one for the front diff. Opinions please!

Either will work... I'm not a fan of Penzoil personally

interesting, the penzoil gear lube was more expensive then the royal purple. And there was only 1 bottle of royal purple and i needed 2 so i got the penzoil platinum. This is $110 worth of stuff:

5 bottles of mobil 1 synthetic
2 bottles of castrol syntec 75w-90 gear oil
2 bottles of penzoil platinum synthetic 75w-140
K&N performance gold oil filter
Ac delo platinum series spark plugs
a fram PCV valve

On my next run, when i get more money i will do the transmission and transfer case unless the mechanic says it needs to be done very soon.

lol yea i hope so. Oh well, next time it will be all amsoil, i have already decided that, then i can just get all my oils from the same place and brand and not have to worry about whether its good or not.

So next spring i will do the full amsoil conversion, inluding the axles and tranny even if it was just done lol

I got a quick question. It says the rear diff needs 2 litres of the gear lube but these bottles only have 946ml in each, so then for the rear diff i will be short but the front diff i have plenty left over, is it ok to mix the 2 a bit to top up the rear diff?

My rear diff has always been at the correct level after two qts so I think you should be fine. If it comes to w/in about 1/2" from the fill hole (sitting level) you are full enough.

Well just did my pcv valve in the dark, that was fun. Had a mini flash light in my mouth and worked away, thing was hell to get loose. I said "ok one more good tug and if nothing i will wait till tomorow in the light". So i went for the last tug and i snapped the old pcv valve in half. So i guess i had no choice now but to finish it. I took out the intake hose and removed the hose that connects to the air box, have me much more room. Used some vice grips and tugged the two broken pieces out and putting the new one in was easy lol

And yes i did figure out after that i had to twist the thing to get it out
