Now I’m curious, a few weeks/months ago I saw two ads for different companies one being Castrol and the other Motor trend. I know Motor Trend is a magazine. On these ads in the background they had oil filters with their name on them. Do Castrol and Motor Trend make oil filters? If so I have not been able to find any of them at the parts store or online. Does anyone have any info on this?

Most entities, like Motor Trend, will sell there name for licensing agreements. Motor Trend filters can be found at Target. I am not sure where else.

Also, like most things, I'd bet that the filters are re-branded from other companies. Until the world got so small and it became easier/cheaper to bring in off-shore goods, most brands of any one item were made by very few compaies ( antifreeze, for instance. Or even aspirin) But now, who nows what third world "factory" superglued an off-brand together?

No. They are probably made by either Fram or (if you're lucky) Purolator.
