ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!! That is one of the dumbest things I have heard in a long time.

-Not sure how they fit the 35s without really rubbing during articulation.

Goodyear Wrangler MT/R 315/75R16 are 35's". 34.6" to be exact. I did see the Liberator in person in front of E3 3-4 years ago and the tires are 315x75Rx16's.

ya but for them to be able to fit those tirse in there they had to do a lot of fender cutting, b/c those fender flares are longer than the stock ones

So with the JBA 4" and some new fenders we should be able to fit 33's. the only other problem which brings us back on topic is the D30a.

I dont think so, thought that they moved the front axle foward and the rear axle back a little to make more room and still had to do major fender trimming

I don't know about the front, but I am almost positive they moved the rear back. And according to the Liberator Info post by KJNick, they used a Quadra Drive Front Axle. Does anyone know if that would work for the average Joe to swap? They got it off a Grand Cherokee?

I dont know for sure, but my guess would be that if you're going to start swapping any axles it might as well be a solid axle... It would take a LOT of work to get 35's to fit in the wells, and you wouldnt be able to put enough lift on to get over the massive amount of trimming with the IFS no matter what axle you use.

They extended the rear flares and wheel well opening, the front wheel well opening was widened also to fit 35" tires on a 4" lift. The lift is a prototype with lift knuckles to keep the CV angles pretty flat.Yes they used a Grand front but there are no lockers out for that front diff.

Oh and the reason they crushed it was due to the fact it had no VIN #,they must crush it after so long,Chrysler has crushed many cool prototypes, and yes the Hurricane will get crushed also.

Thanks for the info. I guess the no vin thing makes sense.

I'm not looking to go to 35" tires. I was just curious about the Dana 44 IFS, the front end of the Liberator and how they would work on a KJ. The most I'd want to run on my KJ would be 33s. I'd like to get a beater trail rig and build it up, some old junky TJ or XJ with an SFA already under there and go from there. Something I can really trash the crap out of and not really care about and definitely not my dd. :D

Does anyone have detailed pics of the underside of that Liberator? How did they fit the D44 in there with the CRD motor? Did they drop the diff? Did they do it "Jeepin By Al 5.5 inch style" and do the mini-cradle drop? Does the diff just fit in there stock?

I don't mind the diff not having a front locker available (as long as I can get some 4.11-4.33 range gears for it), I can get by with just the ESP in the front and tru-trac in the back.

My dilemma: I don't want 6+ inches of SFA lift. I like the way the IFS handles on the road and over most of the little stuff off-road. I only want 4 inches, no more. Then 33's (and maybe a separate set of 31 AT's for driving in town), and a real diff that can handle them. Any more height than that and it is to impractical to drive around on the weekend (fuel cost) and will not fit in the garage.

I agree with all this guy said. I am looking to do pretty much an identical setup. I would run the JBA 4 or even 6, but I want the beefed up front end like the liberator. I am going with the Aussie in the rear as well and that will be that.

It's actually a D30, but with a steel case, it's a D30 swapped in from a Grand Cherokee. I'd much rather have a steel front diff over a cast aluminum center section. These are supposed to have Vari-Lok differentials too.
