Check out this article:
http://www.leftlanenews.com/light-trucks-suvs-need-car-like-bumpers-say-safety-researchers.html

If this legislation was to go through you could kiss any off-road or even deep snow ability of trucks and SUVs goodbye. Might as well buy a car.

most important line in the article:

Approving the IIHS plans is not likely to happen, as the NHTSA has rejected such revisions before in 1984 and 1991, says an Automotive News report.

If this happends, Why should we continue to do mods on our KJ's?
There will be no sence in it any longer.

This is total BS, our GV'NT and envimnt'lst are doing what they can to take away our fun.
I thought this was the land of the free. If we are americans and we have the rite to use this land, why is it being taken away from us?

We really need to band and unite ALL Off roaders in the United States and make a stand for what we beleive in.
This is our RITE as AMERICANS!

The feds have an obligation to protect lands for future generations but they do not have an obligation to protect your access to them by vehicle.

it all comes from the insurance companies trying to find a way to limit claims without reducing premiums thereby maximizing their profits. It's really not about saving lives but saving them money. If they save a few lives and can hide their greed in the process so be it. :x

the way i see it... people who are hit in the cars had the same opportunity to buy a larger vehicle as the person that hit them (and actually bought the larger vehicle instead of a car). Larger vehicles are safer... and the general public knows that.

X2
I say by a truck type of vehicle or get off the road if mine scares you

besides this would have no bearing on current vehicles on the road only new ones
I would love to see a new Wrangler with a bumper 20" off the ground
