Say bye-bye to your 42RLE,I wouldn't try that without the 45RFE or 545RFE tranny in a KJ.

I weighed in at the scrap yard (libby and trailer) at 9950.... full of scrap steel, just pulled it there from my house which was approximatley an hour away.
All gas, and a clutch.

what size of trailer? the KJ weighs roughly 4200# stock, but that still is a good sized load for it, lol ive done it too when i was helping a friend move

Ummm about this big:

Keep in mind I had a bunch of 4x8x1/2 steel tube in the trailer.... I couldn't pick any of the pieces up.... I could drag them and flip them on end, but forget picking them up. Probably would have impeded my chances of having any more kids if I'd tried.

He's towed it with a Liberty V6, Durango Hemi and CRD, - they all towed it - but the V6 got 9 mpg, the Hemi 10 and the CRD ~15

Seriously, the only reason I got the Libby that I did was that it had a manual tranny. I basically stole it from the lot I got such a good deal on it ($15K with 8k miles on it), but if the diesel was offered with a manual tranny I would have purchased new if I had to in order to get one.

I wasn't about to go from driving a turboe'd golf to an Automatic SUV. Just not my style.

MPG's is overrated,you may have more low end torque but I have lower gears so towing capicity is not a issue,plus the MAX is 5000lbs for any KJ(even though I have pulled 6200lbs,could do way more easy).

my picture isnt working but its the engine bay of a CRD Grand Cherokee..... will blow away any KJ in every aspect except economy. darn Mercedes engine

What's that package (ZJ/trailer...ZJ about 3800, trailer about 1200?) weigh, MAYBE another 1000-1500 lb over an XJ and tow dolly? Which is something my KJ did absolutely no sweat.

It's not the power or drivetrain that keeps my KJ from hauling heavy crap, it's the short wheelbase and brakes.

Most I've towed is a YJ. With a tow strap. Over a distance of 20 miles.
