I'm going to get the answer to my question tonight when I put my passenger seat back in, but I'm hoping for a expect outcome  I took the passenger seat out a few days back to remove the carpet and haven't put it back in yet. After this, the airbag light came on. I'm assuming its because the chair isn't plugged in anymore, so there is some sensor somewhere that is causing this. Can someone confirm this before I get my hopes up?

My passenger seat has a weight detector to disable the airbag if the passenger is less that about 80 lb.

That was my thought, and since that sensor is not there right now, it thinks something is wrong.

Having a '02 taking the passenger seat out should not trigger the SRS light. You may have gotten some damage to the SRS brainbox located in the center console area from the water. It may or may not turn off by itself,a DRBIII or Starscan is needed to turn off the SRS light, and most times to turn it off requires a new SRS computer which is about $400.

Your f'n kidding me? Seriously! If that light doesn't go off I think I will just drive it into the ocean and collect the insurance. I don't that it is water damage there though, the carpets were soaked but it wasn't that high. The it was only on the passenger side, and that was about it. It didn't go over the hump in the middle back, not even close to it. As a matter of fact, I drove it for about 500km after the water before I took the carpets out, and the light didn't come on until after I took the seat out.

Did you unplug a connector whne you pulled the seat? Was it black or yellow,if you disconnected a plug?If you did it is for the seat belt and that may have triggered the SRS light.

I have power/heated seats, so I actually had to unhook 2 plugs. They were gray though... Give me a hour or less and I will let you all know the (possibly tragic) details. Of course, if I do flip and drive it into the harbour... I might be more than a hour :)

On my 05, If you disconnect the seat sensor the light will illuminate. Must have it plugged in for it to extinguish.

Yep then the export KJ's have a extra sensor in the passenger side seat for '02 models.I can take my seat out in my '02 KJ and the SRS light will not light up,there are no connectors to the passenger seat in mine, only the drivers seat which is for that stupid little light in the dash reminding you to fasten your seatbelt.

Can you really consider it a "export" when it isn't overseas? I mean, that would be like me calling my Jeep a "import"...

KJ's sold in Canada have extra stuff due to your laws there that ones in the US do not have to have, they are bunched in the export catagory(sorta).

Well, than its basically safe to say that any vehicle in Canada is a "import" unless it was made within our borders... And I don't know if Chrysler has a plant here... In other news, we because of the closing plants from ford and such, other countries are researching using us as a "lower cost" location. The biggest name, Lotus! Yah, crazy eh? Now... what was the definition of a import? LMAO

Import is completely meaningless today.

Import = any vehicle with more than 50% foreign made parts?
Import = any vehicle not final assembled in market country?
Import = defined by where the international headquarters of the company is located?
Import = defined by which stock exchange the companies stock is traded on?

Don't know if there is a definitive answer.

I would like to think it is final assembly, and head quarters. But, like you said, there is really no solid definition anymore.
