This rig can easy be removed, by taking out two bolts and dissconnect the powercord.

I've been trying to come up with a design along those lines that could use the guts of a detours system without having to cut the bumper skin. I like the attachment method, but is just 2 bolts enough for a vehicle tow point?

Most of the design and idéas are mine, but I´ve got help whith the welding and some tips from a friend who have more experience.
The first test showed that the KJs framework is very weak. :? (But not anymore).
Where are the ARB-bumpers mounting points to the frame? I dont think it´s good to hang anything heavyer than this where I´ve mounted it.

Well, I hope so. Look at Warn construction where you can remove or mount the whinch. It have only one bolt. And also the towhook, that are taking all force, is only one pin. Maybe some other quality, but anyway. And if I tighten the bolt´s, the square pipe "walls" are grabbing on too.

But only the future can tell if it´s good or bad....

This is the system I was thinking of:
http://www.detoursusa.com/kjbackbone_install.php. The nice part that I really liked was that it adds stiffness from side to side as well as up/down and front/back If one were to fasten your outer section with that inner section, that would be very strong and not require cutting. Of course, the whole reason I'm even commenting is that I like it

I like the look, I'd just like to see it pull something.
Putting the winch in line horizontally with those mounts would make it stronger...having the winch mount section above the frame-mount sections with the 90 degree part holding it in place makes it seem like it'll break off, unless the winch part is attached to the to the top of the bumper somehow.
No offense, but if it is just those two standard tow-hook mounting points for this whole winch set-up, it's going go bye-bye unless the construction is more than what it appears to be, square tube-steel.

Nice job jeepetorp! I wish I had the means to do something like that as well. Pull something with it and let us know how it goes.

Oh yea, if you happen to run into Mats Sundin could you please tell him to sign with the Canucks

First a video whith singel line. 4" blocks on every wheel, 4wd part time lo, Neutral and handbrake on.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12I8NhRwIuM

And then whith block, and the hook in the lower part of the rig. Much better.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeXdbC_i-2Q

In both case, there were no visible movements on the jeeps frame. It is only my own construction that moves, and that is exactly what I was hoping for. :D

Well, not sure what to say after watching those videos. The first one was scary to me, you could see the whole winch, mount and all the other stuff on the front of the KJ flex forward and then back into place after the tension was released. The second had far less flex but was still visible to me. It seems to me that if this winch was put into a tough winching scenario, things might go wrong quickly. Maybe I am wrong here though. I mean from the link to your buid it looks really beefy, maybe the winch is too high though and needs to be lower where the license plate is. :?
