Well...I opted for the Bosch Ir / Platinum FUSIONs. The price wasn't bad plus Bosch is running a $2.00 rebate per plug through August. They are running rebates on other plugs also. Rebate amounts vary from .50 - $2.00. Anyway, I dropped them in this evening. I'll put some miles on her tomorrow and we'll see how they work out. I'll be curious to see if there is any difference in gas mileage. The new plugs solved the ever so little miss in the idle.

i opted for the Bocsh +4 plugs and OMG let me tell you what happen. as i type this i know that TOMMUDD is gonna recognize this problem as i talked to him about it the other day. what had happen was that i had replaced the Autolite Double Plat plugs for the Bosch +4's. ran me $7 a piece. put them in, put the coil packs back on and what the *%#^???? i get this clicking noise radio. so as i was at the shop where i get my KJ fixed often, the mechanic told me that when i replaced the plugs and put the coil packs back on, i might have disturbed or disrupted a coil pack. so i plugged in a comp and it told me that i had a misfire in the #1 cylinder. called TOM and see if he could help and he said to clean my connections on the CP and the plug wire that plug into the CP. did that, and it helped!!!! so as i was talking to my mechanic. he had said after researching, that the ONLY PLUGS good for the KJ or the 3.7 are the Autolites DP or the NGK Plat. not Bocsh or the E-3's or whatever they are called.
but i have come to a conclusion that i am about to buy a whole new set of CP's for another 107xxx miles.

and TOM if you read this, thanks for the help again BRO.

TOM...

Care to elaborate on the above? lol

I haven't heard or seen anything unusual, but I haven't taken her out. Just fired it up in the garage.

Why would a mid-price BOSCH cause issues compared NGK or Autolite Double Plat? Is there something in the construction?

Those E3 and +2/+4 plugs are junk, they never are gapped right(and you can not gap them) and they have been known for one of those extra prongs coming off and destroying a engine.

Well I am very happy with the Denso iridium plugs that were recommended. I've noticed an increase in MPG, and acceleration. Of course the plugs that were in my KJ when I bought it (recently) were in bad shape. Mind you, this KJ has just over 74K miles on it. The coils are in good shape. I may even consider trying these plugs in both my bikes. I generally use Screamin' Eagle plugs in the hogs.

Do the coil packs ever need replacing? I know it sounds like a pricey option, but has anyone had them wear out??

yes they can go bad. they can crack due to extreme heat or dry rotting. but with CP, they tend to go bad alot faster on cars with alot of HP. but just for my benefit, from what the computer said that i had a bad coil, then im buying them all at once.

i went to autozone and advanced auto parts... both of the stores only had one. and it was 29.99 for each one!

see even when advanced gives military discounts it dosen't even come close to a fair buy.

When one goes bad and you just replace that one the others are getting worn and they will degrade that new one also, then they will start going out very fast and by just replacing one at a time it will be a very expensive fix every couple of thousand miles.

thats why i didnt buy it. i'm waiting. i checked them they looked alright. to me. there was only one that looked kind of beat up. but the beating up was coming from the getting in and out. appereantly cause it was uncomfortable to take it out and back in.

I just wanted to follow up on this as an fyi for those looking at plugs.
I've had a couple of weeks to run the KJ and check things out. She is running smoother with the Bosch Fusions HOWEVER...I've lost between 1-2mpg. I know this seems minor, but a loss is a loss anyway you look at it. My driving routine hasn't changed. I drive to the same places, the same way at the same speeds. Now I'm debating if I want to pull the Fusions and run Autolites or NGK's. I may leave the Fusions in, but I hate to give up 40 miles per tank.

Well I have found an increase in both MPG and performance with the Denso irridum plugs I recently installed. Maybe you should reconsider the plugs you used and try something else.

Are the Densos pregapped? I played heck getting the Fusions to .040 from the estimated .044 pregap. Just something I don't like to mess with. I've got the finesse of a bull in a china shop.

Yes. To be sure I checked the gap - all 6 were at 0.40

DOH!!! The counter guy at napa told me to gap my ngk's at .044 and I just did earlier today. Ironically, all were factory gapped at .040. Will I be alright with the .044? DOH!!! They are all in, and seem to run fine... :?:
