If you could list which model numbers you went with?
Did you do your front turn signals also?
Did you get one of the flasher relays listed?

Great site but I would like to know what you had success with since theu offer so many options :D 8)

Did you get one of the flasher relays listed? No I am still searching for the flasher, which sounds like it is behind the hazard switch

The led lights are cool looking but where i live in the winter time they are not as good ( because ) they do not give off any heat and when driving in snow when it sticks to the rear of the vehicle the snow will not melt off the lights (now no light on rear. I have a big truck and took then off and put the ragular one's back on for the winter .

Even with regular bulbs, you should be taking the time to properly clean off your vehicle of snow. When I go out to my vehicle after it has snowed I make sure that the tail lamps, headlights, and front signals are all clear of snow, as well as every single window I have. I even clean off the roof. Sure, it takes an extra 2 -3 minutes maybe, but it is worth the safety you get out of it. You really should not be waiting for the snow to melt off your lamps, it takes a good while for them to melt snow off, if they even melt the snow at all (if it's cold enough it won't melt off, but instead create a nice patch of ice underneath with snow over it), and during that time if you are driving then you are not only endangering yourself but others as well.

I have never lived anywhere that it didn't snow (New Hampshire, Colorado, and now Utah), so I have learned how to drive most vehicles in the snow (front wheel, 4x4, rear wheel, AWD). It drives me nuts when I see people running around after a snow fall where they didn't bother to take the time to clean their cars off. They just hop in and go. Snow on the roof drives me nuts as well, because while visibility in front of you may be perfect, if the snow is powder anyone behind you is in white out conditions once you hit 30 mph. It's not only rude but plain old dangerous.

I have a nice snow brush/scraper I picked up that has an extendable handle. This way I can reach every part of my car no matter what kind of vehicle it is (sedan, suv, pickup, hummer). I think people who only own one of the little handheld scrapers are just plain stupid.

Jpaul...for the most part, yes, you're right, BUT...

What about when you're cruising down a snowy road at about 35-40 mph and kicking up fresh powder, and the snow sticks to the back of your Jeep? Then what keeps the snow off your taillights, your smile?

If it is cold enough for it to still be powder, I doubt the lights will melt it off.

They don't get very warm really. While the bulbs themselves get pretty hot, the housing does not. Headlights are a different story, because they are burning at 55 watts minimum with a very focused beam. Signal and stop lamps are maybe 20 watts at best and are very unfocused as they need to be seen from 180 degrees.

Besides, have you ever looked at your car after driving in conditions like that where it can actually get the snow to stick on your vehicle? It sticks to everything, including your taillights, and stays there until you clean it off, or it gets warm enough to start melting the snow. Maybe if you let it sit there for 10 minutes it will eventually melt from the heat of the tail lamp bulbs, but not while you are driving as the airflow will keep everything cold enough for the snow to stay in place. Heck, it won't even melt of your headlights if you are following someone or if there is blowing snow. If it is cold enough for snow to do that, and conditions bad enough, you would need your lenses to be heated to keep the snow off, and I'm talking about an actual defroster unit mounted to them, not a somewhat warm bulb.

Don't try to explain it to me, I'm not the one that said a taillight bulb will keep the lens warm enough to melt snow while driving. I simply mentioned that you can't help snow sticking to the back of your vehicle when you're rollin about 40 mph down a powdery road.

That's ok, it just sounded like you agreed with the opinion of the bulb also acting as a defroster for your car.

I totally understand that sometimes you can't help it if snow is sticking to the back or front of your car depending on conditions. You can tell when that is why someone's car is covered in snow and it doesn't bother me. It's when they just pulled out of their driveway or parking spot with snow all over their car, that is when it bothers me.

Just to set the record STRAIGHT...conventional tail lights WILL melt snow off the lenses under any conditions. As a driver who has logged thousands of miles over many years driving in blizzard conditions at both around town and highway speeds, both short distances and long...tail light lamps WILL melt snow off so you can see the light without having to brush them off. I've gotten out of my vehicle (any vehicle I've ever owned) after long trips in blowing snow on snow covered roads to find the entire rear of the vehicle covered in a blanket of powdered snow...except the tail lights (and the rear window of course).

Living in upstate New York, that is one of the main reasons why I will never switch to LED tail light bulbs even though they look wicked cool. Turn signals, maybe someday.
