I may be wrong but I thought I should try to keep my wheels on the high spots
in doing this my diff's would be even further from the ground

Oh and for the "know it alls"
add any amount of tire to a KJ to gain hight and my TJ will gain the same
solid rear axle is the low point on both

I am over this crap
you guys talk like you know
really come on folks
1/2" is peanuts if you think you need then by all means go for it I am happy with less
less trouble and headaches

It sickens me when this kind of crap goes down
blab and blab about who knows what and what is better
it means nothing if you do not get out there and do it
I am at a point where I am about to give up on the KJ
they just dont show we have open events ,I stopped posting them and not 1 KJ
we get guys from Toyota and Nissan boards but not one from here

All I know is my extra 1/2" is a great advantage here in CO,come wheel with us in CO and you will understand that 1/2" means alot.

Oh and your location would have alot to do with why not many KJ's show up to your events,no one lives close enough. Please give up on the KJ so we do not have to hear about how "godly" the TJ is and you can't do nothing with a KJ,please feel free to go.

Heck, if I can gain 1/2" of ground clearance by just changing tires, I'm all over that. Especially if there weren't any rubbing issues.

The thing that makes me nervous about lifting my KJ is changing the angle on the front axles.

as long as you dont lift it too high you will be perfectly okay

I'm not stating anything about anyone's location, notice that? We're just telling you how it is out here, 90% rocks. I could easily see the advantages of having a 32x11.5 tire even if I had to add more bumpstop. Others are trying to persuade us Coloradans into believing that it doesn't make a difference here, and we are assuring you this is not the case. I hope no one is kidding themselves into thinking I'm wasting my time calling people liers...I am just clarifying that they're generalizations do not hold true in my neck of the woods! Get out there any do it!? What do you think Troy is talking about? He's been there, done that, seen the difference, and is now telling you what he's seen. I've been there, and wish I had an extra inch of lift and a steel diff to run 32s.

This crap, people telling me how the view is from my house, is why I'm hardly here on LOST anymore and on Kawasaki KLR650/adventure-touring forums. Less preaching (usually done by people from the Bible-belt, go figure), more helpfulness (thank you Troy). Notice I'm not shoving crap down anyone's throat, just defending my own opinion? I'm not telling anyone what the view is from their house, now am I?

Have fun stacking pennies.

So my question was, do you think that size tire would be too much for the IFS and D30A lets say if you ran the JBA 4" lift with the shortened axle shafts?

You can blow your front diff with 31s, regardless of lift. I don't know if anyone has done so with smaller tires, but I'm sure its even possible with 245/70R16, 255/70, etc.

man I wish we could swap out that diff for something else...other then SAS.

4" lift with 32" tire and confidence that nothing is going to blow up would be it for me.

I just want to know what the holy grail is for what is worth it and what is not worth it? They sell .75" lifts and they SELL. Is 3/4 of an inch needed to clear a tire? What is the point of buying that much lift? Stack about 12 pennies and ask yourself it that is worth it. The OP asked if a 32 would easily blow his D30a. You decided to start preaching about how many pennies makes something worth it. Sorry, you are the problem with this thread.

Like someone said, any tire can blow the diff if you drive to blow it. You know its a time bomb with 32s, so it would be wise to avoid situations that would light the fuse.

This is where I wheel
notice rocks ,some bigger than my tires, and they move
also sand stone ,almost rock just a little more forgiving
now some of these wash outs are 6 feet deep and you need to climb out
yeah I have no clue about wheelin and you need to go through all the trouble for an extra 1/2" under your diff's
I mean heck I should not be here on 31's I need at least 33's or 35's
please ,learn how to wheel and even an inch is minimal

These are 32 X 9.5 on your OE wheels
http://www.intercotire.com/site33.php
sam39 and sam40

now they will ride like poo
and your MPG will be in the tank ,4.10's will help some
but they will fit with some work

or these
they are 31 X 9.5 or 32 x 10.5 but both are on 15" wheels which may be an issue
http://www.intercotire.com/site29.php
The 31's are 1.4" od less and a full inch less on width so these may work for you

and last if you want to take my idea and try them out for me ,and if you have the coin because they will be about twice the price of swampers, you can go this route
I am not clear on DOT approval yet but I dont think they are so if they check that stuff in you area then these are out
I have found ways around inspection stuff so I will go for it when the time comes

Suspension lift is different from tire-lift, I'm sure you know...increasing tire size is the only way to put more air under the diffs.
I'm confused on who your addressing, Jason thompson or myself (since I did make a remark about stacking pennies  )?

FYI, many people have run 32s and not blown their diffs, and I think those people, as well as myself, feel the 32s>31s is worth it. The original poster obviously wants 32s...gee-whiz, he must understand that the catalyst for blowing your diff is the driver and his skinny pedal! So will 32s easily blow your front diff? No, they won't. Will stepping on your skinny pedal while teeter-tottering on an obstacle blow your front diff? Yes! Getting lockers will make 'avoiding the situation that lights the fuse' much easier (no teeter-tottering).

...........hmmmmmm, I climb rock piles out west on 25" tires all day...on my ATV with OE locked axles and low gears!

Best advice I can think of is to ask someone who has run 32's, 31's or whatever, and see how they work out...or not.

No need to argue if Batman can beat up Robin....

Batman beat up Robin when Troy told of how his rig, being very similar to Ted's with the main difference being 265/75R16s vs 245/75R16s, got hung up less on a trail they did together.
Two very similar KJs (lockers, etc), two different tire sizes, same trail, same spotters, similar driving styles...and one got caught on the trail more.
"OH PICK ME I KNOW WHAT'S DIFFERENT!"
