I thought that I'd let everyone know that I added cruise successfully to my 05 CRD. However, there was some fiddling to be done. The tech hooked me up to Starscan and enabled cruise but when we went to activate it in the CRD it wouldn't work. Hmmm. Weird. I doubled checked the wiring, controls, clock spring, etc and everything looked good. The tech ran some tests on the wiring. According to him, my harness to the PCM has 2 of the 3 wires needed for the cruise control. The third wire grounds the cruise. We got around the problem by adding a ground wire. Everything works as planned now. Interestingly enough the tech said that if my battery goes dead for an extended period of time that the computer may not remember that cruise was enabled. Anyone know if there's any truth to that? I know that CATCRD successfully installed cruise but I don't remember him mentioning this last catch. Perhaps my 05 got an early/late harness or something weird like that.
I'm not sure if we have a "how to" article on installing cruise but I took some pictures when installing the controls, wires, etc. I can compile it all and create a new article if anyone so desires.
