Ok folks, I want to put together a VIN decoder for our tech section. But to do this I am going to need your help. If you want to help, please give me the following info:

1. Year, Model (Renegade, Sport, Limited)
2. Color
3. Engine/transmission
4. 4x4 or 4x2
5. Options
6. VIN number

If for some reason you would rather PM me this info, then by all means go for it. Thank you in advance for all your help.

Doesn't the shop manual have all this info? Just wondering... Are you just wanting to do something in the Tech section that tells what is what by type number... as in the 231 is the command trac ect.ect. Later...clint

1. 1 OR 2. 1 FOR US 2 FOR CANADA
2. J. FOR JEEP
3. 4 OR 8. 4 IS W/O SIDE AIRBAGS 8 IS WITH SIDE AIRBAGS
4. G OR F. G IS 5001-6000 GVWR/HYD BRAKES AND F IS FOR 4001-5000 GVWR/HYD BRAKES.
5-6. K3,K4,K5,L3,L4,L5. K3=LIB RENEGADE 4X2LHD,K4=LIB SPORT 4X2LHD,K5=LIB LIMITED 4X2LHD. L3,L4,L5 ARE EXACTLY THE SAME BUT ARE THE 4X4 MODEL.
7. 8 OR 9. 8= SPORT UTILIT 4DR 9 = OPEN BODY
8. 1,K,5,7. 1= 2.4 I4, K=3.7 V6, 5=2.8 TURBO DIESEL,7=2.5 TURBO DIESEL. (Not sure which ones are app besides the 3.7.
9. 0-9 or letter x.
10. for models from 02-04(presumeably through 06) are teh last year digit.
11. C OR W. C=JEFFERSON NORTH, Detroit, MI AND W=TOLEDO NORTH ASSEMBLY OH
12-17. This varies by year,plant and other descriptors.

Anyway, thats the info I have.
