Interesting,very interesting.Now they just need to make them fit in current apps with the same strength(or better yet greater) specs that current u-joints and CV's.

Get them to market, a great Aussie export to help pull us out of this economic mess. Where can I order some to replace my front CVs and driveshaft?

I have vague rememberance of that episode too, good engineering and application's are
endless but I think the price is what hold's it back from mass production, but the thought of
less vibration and friction has to make it worth it, how much are they though?

Taking a KJ CV as an example, as was pointed out above it would need to be engineered to fit within the spaces available for the front CV passage and rotation. From my viewing it appeared that it has a greater diameter that a standard CV which would probably rule it out for existing vehicle retrofit. Vehicles which are designed for it would be a different matter. There also would need to be some research into the strength to diameter trade-off, in other words if they could make it small enough to fit through the existing openings and passages, would it have the strength to do the job over the life of the vehicle. There is also the issue of cost compared to a CV. It would seem to be more complicated to engineer than say a standard CV, and this will make it non-competitive. As much as I would like one for my KJ, I don't expect to see retrofit versions for the forseeable future.

I think as far as cost goes and would it be worth it, it depends. Lets say a CV was $100.00. A 50% increase for something that was drastically better would sell. Who wouldn't pay $150.00 instead of the $100.00 for a stock one.
