Nope you probably couldn't electrify your car as a deterant. Any punk unlucky enough to get a shock from your electified Libby would likely have grounds to sue you for possible medical bills (the actual shock and the fall to the ground putting his back out), emotional stress and loss of employment while recovering LMAO.

Would a sensitive car alarm or a "Club" on the steering wheel work? I suggest a fence with a lock making quick entry/escape difficult, lots of lights either on a motion sensor or all night or a guard dog. Keeping the interior of your vehicle free of valuables is also a better idea. They can't steal what isn't there.

buy 3M safety glass = bulletproof , brick proof ;)

add plates under the edge of the doorskins to keep them from being jimmyed

that's about as tight as you can get it and of course with the electronic vehicle imobilizer with the special keys

i still like the electric deal though

lawsuit prone or not

So do I!

Now I have to get things back to where it was. They are not stealing the cars, only the contents. I'm not saying I want to put 220AC into the Jeep. It would be low amp DC @ 10K to 12K volts. I have touched many electric fences and they do not knock you on your butt. You get a very good sting. Some of the stuff I can't be bothered taking out every night because of being bolted in: CB, inverter, first aid kit and CO2. But even if I did remove them there is still damage due to the jerks breaking in.

I thought about a motion detector with a wireless alarm in the house but we have cats, coons, opossums, armadillos and the paper lady to contend with. That things would be going off all the time. If I left it unlocked they wouldn't damage the KJ but the insurance wouldn't cover the loss either.

A friend of mine works in the body shop at the stealership and said he would try to find out if the computers would be screwed up if I hook a fencer up. I was thing of sending an e-mail to Chrysler asking the engineers about it also.

Terry

They do have motion sensing lights with adjustability sensors. Won't go off for anything smaller than, let's say, a largish dog. (so skinny thieves could still get in!).

They do sell some pretty cheap "BSR X-10" components on the internet. Check out thier website. These are the components Radio Shack used to sell (and may still) under thier "Home Control" system name. Also Sears as well.

They have a pretty cool, real cheap camera that transmits over your electrical lines to your TV so you don't need a dedicated transmitter or receiver. I put one in my motorcycle shed after I kept getting mud all over the bike even when it was inside. I figured there was some kind of leak in the shed or the wind was whipping it under the canvas walls. Turns out it was a cat who loved to crawl up the front end of the bike, over my gas tank (with muddy paws) and sleep on my seat when it rained. I saw it on the video one night.

Thier Homepage looks like one of those schlokky "As Seen On TV" sites but the stuff is actually pretty good quality. I've used a bunch of it and currently have my house wired with the remote control appliance / light stuff. I've had it installed ever since the late 70's and have only had to replace an occasional module (about $15), usually after a near lightning strike or power surge.

lol...

Last time I was home I thought the neighbors cat was on my jeep.. started walkin out to shoo it off and realised it was a coon on my hood, i just stood there and watched it as it crawled up on the roof and investigated my CB antenna and eventually jumped up into the tree i was parked under

i'm not sure something that isn't grounded upon contact with the vehicle would get shocked, ie: a cat jumping up on it, similar to birds sitting on power lines, as long as they don't touch both lines or the line and the pole at the same time they're ok

I have always wanted to put the shatter-proof adhesive on my windows, but if I am ever in an emergency situation and need to get out of the window quickly, then I would be screwed!

i hit an IED and then a concrete barrier and flipped a federal surburban that had 3M bullet/shatter proof glass, the stuff will buckle kind of like a tupperware lid and or break the window unit to where you can either push it out, pull it out or push it down with a hammer or your hand/foot and the windshield got ejected across the hood as usual when the roof lost a foot of height

if ya want the stuff put it on and get a safety hammer and attach it to your seat bracket, chances of needing to get out and not being able to with or without the safety hammer are much less than someone bricking your window

I will tell you that the rear windows are pretty sturdy! I had someone launch a brick (actual red brick) at my rear window to try to break in. The thing bounced back and ended up deforming the interior strip that seperates the actual rear window that goes up & down from the smaller stationary window. I know it was a brick because it left an indent of all four corners of the brick (it hit flat) in the window! I also know it was a brick because they tried a 2nd time on the front window, and suceeded

Remember guys, for your protection... You have the right to bear arms but NOT to arm bears.

Well in IL as long as you get a FOID for your bear you can arm it, in some "not quite as ignorant" counties anyway

Alarm system with shock sensor & dual zone proximity sensor worked wonders for me

That or get a sticker from one of the local shooting ranges :) They will see that and think twice about breaking in.

Shades over the windows (from the inside) so they can't see what is inside is a simple solution.

If they can't see in, then they won't risk wasting the time and getting caught, if they aren't sure if there is anything worth stealing (a good reason not to put stickers like Pioneer, Blaupunkt, rockford fosgate, etc on your vehicle).

Thieves look for things inside and look first for the easiest access (unlocked doors, open windows).
