I haven't seen a whole lot of mention on the JBA 4" kit, have any of you pro's got an opinion on it before I order the Franky II. Sorry I know the whole lift subject gets everyone excited. It's just that I'm going from a cRUSTY's crappy lift to a new real lift. I have the extra money to go to 4" kit just wondering if I should or not. Is it preference? Thanks for your patience and continued support.

Depends ...I see some advantages to a 4 inch but then a Frankenlift (OR JUST OME SPRINGS and some tricks) will get you almost the same amount as it will
Look at pictures of TJKJs and the 4 inch JBA that are posted on here somewhere for one, also from what I have seen with the JBA 4 inch from center of the wheel to the bottom of the flare you will have about 23 inches, border line I would say to needing cut CVs
Now mine with OME springs, top plate and clevis is at 22 1/2 to 22 3/4 (before I tore it down last night to add something) , and I know dieselenthusiast with a Frankenlift and clevis is about 22 1/2 or better I think since he did his. cdiekhans with a franky and clevis is about the same as that.
So do you buy the JBA 4 inch for 1/2 inch more maybe and run the risk of needing to buy the cut CVs or ???? Whats a 1/2 or 3/4 inch worth to ya ???

What all is involved with cutting down the CV's? Do you just need to remove shaft and trim it with bandsaw 3/8"? I don't know. I think I 'll go with a Franky II premium and the difference in cost between the 4" JBA & Franky I'll go ahead and give to Al for some of his nice upper control arms. That sounds like a great idea doesn't it?

TJKJ had a write up on the cutting of the CV cup, he may chime in ...not that easy.

Unless you have access to a machine shop just buy the pre-cut ones JBA offers. It would have cost about $300 each here in CO to cut 3/8" off each inner CV cup.Plus if you just hack off 3/8" then you have half the space for the boot clamp and you also cut out the internal groove that hold a ring that keeps the inner CV joint together. The JE Reel pre-cut CV's have all the machining done and keeps the internal ring(new one machined into the cup).

i would buy a franky over the JBA 4in... franky is still an amazing lift and you get very very very close to the height of the jba 4in. now.. the 6in lift is outstanding but also more money. i've seen RTI's of the 6in and i'm very impressed with it.

i'd say go for the franky.. and i have the basic one with rancho's front and rear and they have been outstanding... i couldnt justify even going to the prem. II knowing how good the basic that i have is. (although bumper and winch forced a OME CRD spring swap.. thats a whole nother topic)

Well, thank you sir. I have cragar soft 8’s with Toyo A/T’s to put on it eventually. I bought these Moab’s just for the heck of it, and they came with decent rubber so I’m trying to burn off the rubber first and save the Toyo’s for off-road and winter usage.

FYI - the shift kit is great, but my KJ is a gasser, not a CRD. JBA's 4.5 UCA = Jeepinbyal Generation 4.5 Upper Control Arms. Here's a link to his website: http://www.jeepinbyal.com/

Quadratec has the OME HD kit on for 749.99 + shipping. My question is do I have to use the Daystar strut plate or will my Rusty's one work? I'm trying to save a little dough. Is it worth the headaches?
