I've just had CRDSTU's 2.5 inch Lift installed and have just ordered an ARB Bull Bar.
So now I've been considering a winch.

Now, The Questions start !

Anyone reccomend a winch for a 2007 Liberty?
How much Pulling Power would you reccomend? 8000lb-9000lb?
What is the OE battery's Cold Crank Amps?
Do I need a bigger/dual battery setup?
What is your typical setup consist of? (pictures would be nice  )
What does low and high mount mean?

As you may have guessed, I know nothing

How much are you looking to spend? the Smitybuilt XRC8 is only $300 and has a pull of 8,000, and the XRC10 is $430 and is 10,000 or if you want to spend more you can go with a Warn or Mile Marker

oh and typically your winch is 1.5 the weight of your vehicle, so I would buy a minimum of 8,000 for the KJ

I don't think Smitybuilt is sold in Australia, and I'd hate to think of what the postage will be.
It'll probably take it up to the price of a Warn Winch !!

Although it is an option.

WARN is the way to go,the M8000 or the 9500XP are great choices.

So.....With the responses so far; I'd have to say that not many people have a winch on there KJ's.
I notice a lot of Wranglers have them.

Anyone know how many CCA's the OE battery is?

Anyone reccomend a winch for a 2007 Liberty?

In Australia, i think they sell the T-Max winches. I don't know much about them though. WARN is the number one rated off-road winch brand for reliability in North America. I like my winch, the Titan, though. It is a good bang for the buck winch, using higher quality parts than other cheap winches. And so far, as far as i know, only 1 Titan motor has failed in all of North America. Some will say WARN is the only way to go. Maybe true if you are doing extreme off-roading but I like the fact that Titan is a small Canadian company and sometimes you gotta support the little guy. But for you if you can not get a WARN in Australia you could look at the T-Max. Also, the WARN M8000 is guaranteed to fit in the ARB and you need to compare the specs on it to any other winch you want to fit in there.

How much Pulling Power would you reccomend? 8000lb-9000lb?

Really, If you are getting an ARB then the only choices in a winch are the smaller winches that have the solenoids that are removable or mounted not on the winch itself. These include the ones mentioned above and the WARN M8000, XD9000, 9.5XP. My winch is 12000 ibs and has a safety overload switch that automatically shuts off power at 12300 ibs to not overload the winch. The bigger the better but the M8000 will work but i wouldn't go any smaller than that.

What is the OE battery's Cold Crank Amps?

Not sure but I have a yellow top optima battery that is better for winches and other power accessories.

Do I need a bigger/dual battery setup?

No. I think usually 650 CCA is the minimum you need for the M8000. A yellow top would be good. A dual battery would be nice to have but not needed.

What is your typical setup consist of? (pictures would be nice Wink )

The ARB comes complete with winch mounting instructions.

What does low and high mount mean?

Mounting it low versus mounting it high???  Probably doesn't mean much since you're mounting it in an ARB.

I think a high mount winch allows for a longer cable and faster winch speeds and are usually used in competitions. They are also more expensive. But, you won't be able to fit one in the ARB anyways. Here is an example of a high mount.

Wow !! So that's what my Jeep is going to look like!! Awesome!! 8)

I've got the same color Jeep, Chrome grill, and I've ordered a color-coded ARB bumper !!

Are you going to add driving lights or UHF antennae?

I'm having long range lights installed on the RL gecko roof rack, but I will also have fog lights mounted on the bumper. The antennae will also be mounted on the roof rack.

I believe tjkj has the 9.5xp model. The XD9000 will work though.

Yeah, I got a quote for the 9500XP. It was AUS$500 more than the XD.

I ended up ordering the XD. It's a little slower but Speed is not a priority for me. I don't plan on doing competition or anything like that !!

Also ordered an Optima battery. I asked about the yellow top but ARB reccomended the blue-top with dual terminals on the top.

Now the waiting begins!! (Like a child on Xmas nite !!)

I am on my second "Champion Power Products" 9500 pound winch.
The first one I had, I sold with my last 4X4 truck.
Even though it is is made in China, it has never left me hanging! (No pun intended!)
After many many years of trouble free usage, it was a very reliable winch.
Pays out cable well and works just fine.
I ended up buying another one just like it. (Only updated)
For what I paid for it, I could not resist buying another one. It came with two wired
hand held remotes, an extra "Anderson" type quick disconnect plug and master battery
cables, and two 12000 lbs. stainless steel snatch blocks.

I have seen those at Sam's and I have wondered about them... just still need any money!
