Liberty,

I assume you provided the new TC. The price for the labor, fluid and filters sounds very reasonable, but the need to "finish" the job yourself and be left with some uncertainty as a result is always a bit worrisome.

(We had the job done at a dealer. They left a harness on the exhaust pipe which I fortunately found right away and rerouted just before it melted through. They also overfilled the trans 2 qts of fluid which I had to suck out the fill tube.)

Yeah I'm a bit of a perfectionist and it annoys the crap out of me if ALL the bolts aren't back in when I'm done with a job. But let's face it...the bellhousing on the KJ is a nightmare to get to, so I'm just glad it's done. As far as fluid level....they underfilled my trans. just barely. At idle in park...the fluid barely touched the dipstick. When I shut the engine off (trans. still hot) it would come up almost to the upper marks. So I figured it was close to being right...and added only a half-quart for now.

Sure does feel good to not have to worry about the transmission anymore. I feel confident enough to hook onto a trailer again with this HOT tune. :pepper:

HOPEFULLY there will be no more major repairs for a LONG time. I've spent close to $1,500 in maintenance on this Jeep in the 3 months I've had it. And I haven't even gotten to the timing belt interval yet. :ALONE:
