Bump them up to 41~42 and see what happens

It's not a KK, but I was in my Lib when I saw it! So, that counts right? lol

Me thinks somebody is Digger's secret evil twin:

It's fully bed-lined all the way around. Top to bottom. 8)

Also today: Replaced the dealer's silver pinstriping with red:

And for those of you that asked for a more "head-on" shot of the scoop, I included it in the other side of the red pinstripe photo set:

Didn't you guys get the skid plate package???
I asked if it came with it and Digger posted pictures of his and since he provided the part number thought he had to buy it too. I knew he had the skid package so I bought it too not knowing that it DOES come with the skid package. So now I have an extra one......

Mine did not come with the skid plate package. I had to order all of the skid plates. I thought the skid plate package only came with 4 skid plates: engine (or front), transmission, transfer case and gas tank. It also comes with a front tow hook. Did you get all 5 skid plates with the package?

Got all 5 and hooks.

Hmmm... I guess my dealer doesn't know what comes with the package. I told them to order all the plates and the hook that came with the package for me. If they knew what they were doing they could have made more money.

I don't know! But I think I'm the only one with a MOPAR CAI. I thought when I first posted that someone would ask"what"?

I've always heard the optimal pressure is the one where all of the tread contacts the road evenly. To figure that out, you draw a line in chaulk across the tread and drive in a straight line for 100 feet or so. If you are overinflated the chaulk will be worn off the center of the tread and not the edges. If you are underinflated, the chaulk will be worn off the edges and not the center. If you are inflated properly, the chaulk will wear evenly. The maximum pressure written on a tire is for the maximum load but it may not be all that close to what your optimal pressure is.

Underinflated tires cause more drag and lower mileage. As you increase pressure, the mileage goes up because less energy is expended flexing the tire with each rotation (since it doesn't flex much at high pressure). This continues even after you have reached the optimal pressure for your vehicle so you don't want to keep increasing the pressure as long as mileage goes up. You will be putting all the weight of your vehicle on the center few inches of your tread which results in uneven wear and poor traction.

All you need is:

2X of a 6506644AA - Nutzerk
2X of a 06104416AA BOLT AND WASHER, Hex Head,M10X1.50X35.00

So I went to the stealership today to order these parts. They want $4.95 each and they don't have any in stock. Since I want 4 bolts instead of 2 this adds up to over $30 with tax.

The skid plate cost $27.14. I resisted the temptation to tell them where they could install their parts but I told them it is insane that the hardware costs more than the skid plate and I left.

I went to Home Depot and got the bolts for $1.04 each (I already saved $15.64 :) ). I'm not sure if the Jeep bolts are grade 5 or grade 8 bolts but I don't plan on smashing my skid plate hard enough to break 4 regular 10mm bolts anyway so I don't care. Now I just have to find the nutserts online so I don't have to go back to the stealership.

They are 10.9's

I looked and the bolts I got at Home Depot are 8.8's. I looked up the strength difference and it is 20 - 30 percent less depending on which stress measurement you use. I think I'm not going to worry about it because I'm pretty sure either bolt is stronger than the nutserts and I don't plan on hitting it hard enough to break the 8.8 bolts.

In case anyone is interested in knowing more than you should have to know about metric bolt ratings, here is the site I used: http://euler9.tripod.com/bolt-database/22.html

Had the most enjoyable weekend day I've had in awhile this past Saturday. I got to spend it not working and spent it with my dad working on the Jeep:

Then test-fit the tow-hitch mounted cargo carrier I had bought to help haul 5 people's worth of stuff out to Moab in April:

Then, installed a CB antenna mount (firestik door jam) at the rear driver's side tail light:

If I can get time in the next couple weeks, I'd like to do a little "how to" for our KK Tech Section.

Then, working with a scrap piece of aluminum, made and attached a CB handset clip just to the right of the instrument cluster:

Got my 4D LED MagLite mounted in the same spot, works GREAT. Thanks for the pictures. Can you get me the model number for that FireStik Door Jam Mount and did you get the FireStik II or Original? How Long?

Bug me next week about the door jam mount. I'm currently in Moab without access to my records...in fact I'm reading and typing this on my phone.

pumped up the tires to 42 psi today... they are better but might need a little more air... i'm gunna try the chalk trick and see how it wears...

also did some more research on my future lift... working out kinks etc...

was looking at the red liberator II pics and found out they used a specific type of lug nut... and i was actually curious if it provided any advantages besides security... they used McGard Spline Drive Lug Nuts... as thought suggestions /reviews?( i was really considering some black ones)

also thinking about maybe converting my direct drive air horn to a compress/tank set up.. it'll be louder and i can hook it up so that i can hook up a quick connect hose and maybe even air up after the beach... gotta do a little more research on that tho

as a side note i wanna say that my new tires and rims are great... the ride is much nicer and besides the loss in MPG which i think is more related to the pressure right now ( i expected a little loss but not as much as i got) i think they are real great.... gotta clean then though... they got pretty dirty when i ran em through a little mud the other day... oh and for the record they go over curbs nicely :JEEPIN: haha
