I did the pump, suncoast t/c and shift kit but the suncoast still shuddered.
If all it was is some stiff springs and the new mopar is cheaper I will go mopar.
I was not impressed with suncoast for the money and the shudder.
The VM is also not the engine a Cummings is although we all wish it was.

The only ATF that Suncoast approves is ATF-4, Universal Fluid will shudder. Every shudder case involving a SunCoast that has been investigated was due to either a bad pump or wrong fluid. SunCoast does the other Chrysler 545RFE & 68RFE transmissions and sticks with ATF-4 for them as well.
Last I checked Chrysler only approves ATF-4 (for the euro as well) but their are a lot of independent shops who listen to the snake oil salesman and dump in the wrong fluid because it is CHEAPER.
if some shop dumped in the wrong ATF, better get a Good Lawyer.
If some one on there own does it, they should assume all the responsibility and not blame others.

Very simple answere :juggle: If the drive there was doable it's a sweet and simple procedure :SOMBRERO: First that's how the dealer does it! Much easier to have GDE plug in a device, like a laptop, to the obdii port and upload the programs to the control modules  No messen with connectors and removing stuff to get them out. AND no down time, just a ride to Michigan
Who's messen with who here :?:
Also "dieselsmoke" it's a bad thing here for a diesel to smoke :banghead: Every smoking diesel sets off a dozen tree huggers that control CARB and EPA and make tighter rules for diesels :furious:

Warped,
I only use ATF-4.
Face it, the suncoast for all of it's strengths had weak springs to allow shudder.
I am glad to hear they fixed the spring thing and I was not about to sue for some shudder, but thanks for the idea.

One more thing! Maybe the most important.
I bought a new torque wrench and torqued the bolts down, used loctite where called for but with the diesel vibrations I might suggest using more than just a touch.
I do not know what has taken my transmission down yet, it is still at the shop.
When I know the reason will be posted here at lostjeeps.com.

FastRob: Call SunCoast and ask Ron on what to check. He is working on a ways to shove 800 HP through a 68RFE and I am sure he has gained some insight that may also apply to the 545RFE in our CRDs.
I one case he cut open a torque converter he sold (don't know application) inspected it, cleaned off the corrosion that was on the inside where the friction material contacts the front billet, reassembled it and sent it back (talk about bending over backwards). The problem was caused by one of the shops he sells to having it not properly stored and sitting on the shelf too long.
If you explain what is going on, he may have a solution, Ron does care about SunCoast's reputation.

PolySci-PHD: Take some Exlax!!

Yep. I'll only put what the tech manual calls for or OEM, Unless it's a custom set up or something like my tranny in the truck. That trans started out as a shell. And the clutch's i have in it are funny as well so it was going to be synth as well so I just went with amsoil trans fluid. No issues yet.

When I build the crd trans up a little I will put what it calls for and nothing elts.

Also do we have any chemical engineers here? anyone fimiliar with the emmissions a honda hybrid puts out VS. a stock 2500 Cummins truck? I bet you would be shocked. THe honda hybrid puts out more. thats even with the CAt or DPF of the cummins....

I would bet that the only Chemical Engineers that work for the EPA just studied how to make Illegal or Controlled Substances that produce hallucinations and nothing more.
All kidding aside, we have Wantabe Actors who can't act well enough to make any money acting who become Lawyers. They can't make any money as Lawyers because they are too Stupid. So they run for office spouting the talking points made up by Pot Head PolySci PHDs and get enough people who love their talking points enough to vote them into office. The Wantabe Actors/Lawyers/Elected Officials put on a big act and vote for laws they can't even or won't read and the Acid Heads in the EPA and CARB intemperate the laws. There are a few Elected Officials in Public Office, even DC, but they are out numbered.
Any Chemical Engineer would agree with dieselsmokes point and dismiss all the CACA EL POLLO that flows out of DC under the pretention of saving the world. :2cents:

:ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: ...............I mean look guys. All you have to do is research it a little bit. Exactly what he said. I could go on and on about it but diesels really dont put out that much "bad stuff"....the smoke from my understanding is just a by product of the fuel/unburnt fuel/....i mean gas and diesel differ so much. I would be willing to say you could huff the exhaust of my truck and still survive and recover and huff the exhaust from a honda hybrid, toyata prius....whatever and you might come out with some brain damage at best...this is a little crude. yes. but im just ry'n to get the point across.

How in the heck did we even get on this? lol

I love seeing them drive on the shoulder when I pass them up :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL:

Besides most of them are Hippies who did Acid in the 60's or their offspring that survived gestation and birth.
