so im interested in the general opnion on some side rails/steps. ive been looking into a set or two and wondering if their worth while. heres my questions..

-will they decrease my "crest" height when climbing over or geting out of a whole?

-are they really worth the money when the jeeps only got a 2in lift?

-what makes a worth while set of rails/steps? waulity wise

-do they make a jeep look DUMB?

here are a couple of the sets that ive been mulling over...

Why not just get some sliders and use those? Then you would get some protection if you wheel it and also a step-up if someone needs help getting in.

Super skink's would probably work better for that purpose.

it's up to you... sliders are good for protection but they are heavier and require a bit more time for installation cause you need to drill holes... or you can get sidesteps.. IMO the best ones are mopar... i can show you how they look on my ride... I will be taking mine off and replacing then with sliders, but i plan on wheeling my truck, if you interested I can sell you mine...

Here are my factory steps i just put on. I had to get them on in order to put the lift in. Want to get sliders but amd waiting for certain entrepenuers on this site to get some on the market because the RRO ones look a little weak.

Check out ebay. I got these brand new in the box for $200 shipped.

ebay, WHY did i not think of this before..funny story though.

The VA paid out $1,800 in back pay to me recently, so what did i do? i Paid off school and my Jeep ( along with other funds to pay off the jeep ) Yesterday i got a letter saying basically this..

" Dear Mr.Gren71,
We recentally paid you $1,800 in back pay, this was a mistake. We need you to go ahead and send us this money back asap or were going to send the account to collections. Have a nice day!
~The VA"

Needless to say im now flat out broke and have to pay the VA back and cant get the rails for now, any one looking to buy a soul? i may need to hawk mine :banghead:

That REALLY sucks. :(

Don't sell your soul though. Don't you rmember what Bart Simpson went through to get his back? :D

Is there any way you can appeal this? Did they owe you the money and are now regrettin giving it to you or was it a clerical error?

I hear so many horror stories with the VA. I can't believe that is how the government takes care of those who are protecting it with their lives. Good luck with everything.

thanks for the well wishing bud, i ended up calling them today and after a VERY drawn out discussion i found out it was a processing error and i didnt own them as much as they first thought. I paid them and now im back on track but still..geesh...another bump in the road...i really need to get my lift put on so theses bumps aren't so bad! :ROTFL:

Hard to believe the government can make a clerical error. :ROTFL:

I believe the OEM steps are more oval. A little bit wider than tall. I would say 4 or 5" wide but I haven't measured them. The factory steps are also striaght. I know some of the aftermarket ones wrap underneath the body of the Jeep. I'm not sure if that means they are lower ground clearance-wise. It might just look that way. Molded side steps are also an option. They look cleaner but not so offroad-ish.

We recently installed nerf bars on our Liberty and they made it more difficult to enter and exit the vehicle. After having that opinion from others I removed them and returned them. I would suggest if possible to try them out if you are able to find someone with a Liberty that has the nerf or step bars. They did look good but they were not practical for us. David

They work fine if you actually step on the them when getting in and out. :ROTFL:

Honestly though, it does take some getting used to. My girlfriend was constantly complaining about them for a few weeks until I kept yelling at her to actually step on the bar to get in and out. Now she thinks they are great. They help with roof access to if you are lifted. :D
