Ok I’m looking at buying some fog lights for my girl friends 2004 liberty for her birthday. I have a set of Piaa 520 lights that I'm going to mount in front of the grill, but I'd like to get some of the stock lights that fit in the front bumper. Everywhere that I see the fog lights for sale it seams to be just the bulbs, how do they attach to the jeep? Do I need to buy brackets? as for connecting, I'm going to run a relay off the head light harness, so they work in tandem with the head lights and the Piaa lights will have their own switch and power supply. But my issue is back to the stock fog light on the liberty, has anyone added these lights, if so what is all required? I just refuse to pay 180.00 for the kit! I feel that I can patch the system together from eBay/ wrecker yards, but I'm just curious if all jeeps have the fog light bracket but not the fog lights.

Any light on the subject would be appreciated

Thanks

When you think about wiring the light, remember that in most states they require the fog lights to turn off when the high beams are on.

The black slots on the bottom of the bumper are where the fog goes. You have to take the slotted plastic peice out to see the brackets for the fogs.

I know that the fog lights go in place of the slotted plastic covers, it's just that I'm in work and thought I'd post this question, so that way I know if I can just buy the bulbs or if I need to look for brakets also. As for the inspection, that's not really an issue here, but thanks for the info.

I do not believe there are any brakets. I think the housing of the foglight screws where the slot things are. Im not to sure though. It would be really easy to take those out of a jeep in a junk yard.

The reason the kit cost $180 is b/c it comes with a new stalk that the turns the headlights on and then you can pull it out to turn the fogs on. Making your own wiring harness would save alot. Then you could just put a switch in the dash or something.
