Hello!

I am quite new on this forum and I need your advice.
I have a Jeep Cherokee Renegade 2.8 CRD (model 2003) bought here in Iceland at 67.000km...now already 105.000km. I must say I need a very reliable car since I am a nature enthusiastic. Icelandic nature and weather can be really rough...therefore I need to trust the car when driving into highlands. When bought I changed all fluids and filters and also installed a new timing belt kit. Just to be sure I am on the safe side...despite people told me...not to do since the car has only 67.000km...but already 7 years since production. Anyway, the car is great...I could travel quite a lot in rough terrain although I do not have this amazing lift kits...and as result...I cannot drive it on a glacier. At least not yet.
But let's get back to my problems. The car is already 10years old, runs very well...good mileage...about 8.5L/100km outside city, about 12-13L/100km in city, and therefore I was thinking I need to replace all bushings and the engine mounts. Few of them were already change with a few problems the car had...but rubber is rubber...after some years they loose their intended properties. Also a friend of mine noticed that the rear engine mount (the one to the automatic transmission) needs to be replaced sooner or later. Living in Iceland is not easy if you own a Jeep car since there is no official Jeep office...and only about two repair workshops for getting fixed your Jeep. Moreover...there are plenty of Liberty KJ 3.7 L version...but only a few, probably no more than the fingers at a hand, CRD version. As result...prices for spare parts are huge comparing to USA...and even Europe. Even I pay transportation and duty taxes...it seems still reasonable to imports spare parts.
I surfed Internet for some time and I can say that at least, in the case of engine mounts...there are different codes for apparently the same mounts but also difference because of the time of built of the car. It looks like if the car was built within 1/2003-5/2003 the engine mount has a code and if is within 6/2003-12/2007 then is another code. My car is built on February 2003. As example: for the front-left engine mount there is 52059201AD if 1/2003-5/2003 but 52059201AE if otherwise. As said, other codes for same item are 52129011AC/AD. The same happens for the rear (transmission) engine mount: 52002334AB or 52059313AA. I contacted for example allmoparparts.com since they have very competitive prices...btw...thanks for the tip, and their answer was that they do not have parts for my car, they only have it for KJ 3.7L but these parts are a little different from KJ 2.8CRD. I was puzzled because I was told that suspension, body parts are same for both: 3.7L and 2.8 CRD. I have found later another website idparts.com that sell parts for 2.8CRD but 2005-2007 models. When asked...they said "we only have specification for 2005-2007 models and cannot say if fit under 2003 models". However, moparspareaustralia.com shows the engine mounts for models 2003 and 2005. They look identical...even the codes are the same as the ones on idparts.com. I should also say that they look alike the ones are shown somewhere here in the forum, only the codes are a little different.
I have two questions:

1. What is your expertize: do you think 2.8 CRD engine mounts for 2003 fits under 2005 and the otherwise, no matter the car is built for USA or international markets? I believe the ones for 3.7L are a little different from 2.8 CRD since one is petrol...the other diesel.
2. Are the bushings (front/rear upper/lower control arm), front lower and rear upper control arm ball joints, tie rod ends, front sway bar links from a 3.7L would fit under a 2.8CRD model, despite that was built for USA or external markets? Could you please recommend me a producer for these parts: MOPAR, Omix-Ada, Crown, Moog?

I would appreciate any suggestions, comments, advices.

Greets from Iceland,
Gabriel

Greetings, Gabriel, welcome aboard. My guess is that your best advice is likely to come from somebody in the UK or elsewhere in Europe, as we in the US did not get any CRDs until 2005. I certainly can't claim any expertise on that score to help you directly. But somebody from Europe will surely come along soon with some help for you.

One thing you might try is finding a dealer in Europe and trying to get parts based on the VIN. Dealers have access to a database that should be able to do that.

Best of luck.

Welcome,

Glend or Auberon in OZ, BillWill in SA, and maybe TonyCRD in Spain might be able to help.

We just didn't get the same vehicle here in the US.

good luck

Hello Gabriel, I suggest you post your questions in the KJ forum of Ausjeep, as we have many early model CRDs down here in Australia. The mounts should be the same but we can check that. For engine parts I suggest George at VM Specialsts UK, he supplies many of us here and he's much closer to you. Just google VM Specialists UK for his contact details.

Hi!

thanks for your support. I had in the past a very good supplier in UK but unfortunately last year the family business ended up. I was looking for them by emails, no replays and with some search I learned that the store needed to close its doors. Therefore later when needed, I ordered some parts from USA. Very competitive prices...much better than Europe.

Hello!

thanks for support. I will contact them and hear their advices. It is so said the cars were not the same. I should mention that two years ago I ordered something from USA...and fitted very well under my car.

Hello!

I will open an account with Ausjeep...and post my problem. I also googled for VM Specialist UK and ended up with http://www.vmdieselspecialist.com. I do not know if there is any George there...but this is apparently the place. As mentioned in my message one shop in Australia, http://www.moparsparesaustralia.com.au/ ... 4_303_1286 shows the engine mounts (front left and right, unfortunately nothing about the rear transmission mount) for a KJ 2.8 CRD 2003 model (same codes and photo for the KJ 2.8 CRD 2005 model on the same website http://www.moparsparesaustralia.com.au/ ... 6_309_1292), that have the same codes as a USA website http://www.idparts.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=29_57 but for KJ 2.8 CRD 2005 model.
Thanks again and hope for some help!

Gabriel
