I had a tweeter go out and decided to replace it. Looking at the parts list I saw it was cheaper ($14.60 vs $20) to get the premium speaker (05064204AB) instead of the stock one, so I got two and figured I'd upgrade the other one as well. The upgraded one is definitely bigger and about twice as heavy. I also noticed the stock ones had a capacitor inline with them while the premiums don't. After installing the new ones, I did notice a slight difference, so if you can get these at a junkyard on the cheap, they are definitely worth it. Below are some pictures comparing the two.

I've got a set of stock tweeters sitting at my house but my jeep didn't come with them from the factory. Anyone know if they would be plug and play or would I have to splice them into the system?

I'd really like to throw them in there but have yet to have the time to disassemble my dashboard.

Looking at the harness part numbers, I don't see any coded only to RCD only. (4 Speaker) There's one for RCY (Premium Audio) and one for RCD or RCG (6 speaker). The driver side takes all of 10min to take apart with a trim stick, the hardest part is the A-pillar trim. The plug, if it is there, from the harness should be there right above the left vent.

What is the bare minimum you have to remove to get to the tweeters? I don't have to take every step Digger does in the dash removal do i?

Is it just the A pillar that is removed?

Diggers thread is informative but a little confusing at that point.
