If it's that hot then the heat will blast at you. I mean really radiate out at you. If you can get your head under the hood then it's not overheating and my bet is that it's the temp sending unit.
It took a lot of $%$%^&ing around before it finally dawned on me the motor was not overheating. And it confused the gauge, fan, everything.
just afraid that i will screw up the engine, at that time it did it again, i did park and turn off the engine, wait for a while and started it but the needle went all the way up again, i did pop up the hood and like you said i was able to get my head under the hood with no trouble,
