the other day my check engine light came on, while seating on a traffic i can hear the clutch compressor working and when i looked at my gauge its going to red mark and im waiting for the electric fun to kick on but it didnt, i was able to get out and drive until the needle went to normal. yesterday when i started the jeep check engine light was gone, jeep was running at normal temp.

Today it did it again started the engine got out of the parking lot and my temp on the gauge went all the way up close to red and the fun didnt kick off

need to see the dealer, jeep is still under warranty

when does the fun kick on?
any help will be appreciated

"when does the fun kick on?" What does that mean?

"up close to red and the fun didnt kick off " So the fan is on? But you want it to kick off when its over heating? That doesnt make sense? :?

Is the "fan" kicking on or not? If its not, then its probably just a bad motor or temp switch. This is why all libbys should have the engine driven fan and not a stupid electric fan.

That's what the warranty is for. I'd make an appointment and make them deal with that.

(I spell stuff wrong all the time, don't worry about it)

I had that kind of problem as well and it stumped a lot of people for a while. First, when the gauge goes into the red pop the hood and see if the engine is hot. If it's that hot then the heat will blast at you. I mean really radiate out at you. If you can get your head under the hood then it's not overheating and my bet is that it's the temp sending unit.

It took a lot of $%$%^&ing around before it finally dawned on me the motor was not overheating. And it confused the gauge, fan, everything.

just afraid that i will screw up the engine, at that time it did it again, i did park and turn off the engine, wait for a while and started it but the needle went all the way up again, i did pop up the hood and like you said i was able to get my head under the hood with no trouble,

thanx for the replies guys, i appreciate it
she will go to the dealer on monday
