You know, I can't drive around Raleigh without seeing another Liberty every 15 minutes. I know there a lot of Liberty owners in the Carolinas, but the Carolina LOST discussion board does not reflect this.

Here's just a few things to do in the Carolinas:
Outer Banks - ride your Liberty in the sand
Uwharrie National Forrest - take your Liberty off road in the middle of the state. Camping, hiking, and water activities in the same area. Visit the N.C. Zoo.
Telico - Probably the toughest trails on the East Coast.
Brown Mountain - More off roading (and creepy floating balls of light)
Blue Ridge Parkway - not tough for a Liberty, but one of the most scenic roads on the East Coast
We are also just over the mountain from Oliver Springs, TN, which apparently has one of the largest off-road parks on the East Coast.
We are about 6 hours form George Washington National Forrest in Virginia.

I am sure there are probably other places to off-road that I don't know about. Heck! The Carolina's are also just a great place to get together and have a BBQ.

Membership for now is free. The only real cost is the web site (
http://www.carolina-lost.com/ ), but I host that with my personal site.

You don't have to be a crazy trail nut like me to be in the group, just interested in getting together with other Liberty owners.

So, scroll on down to the local club list and say "hi".

Sorry for putting this iin the general discussion area.

I grew up in Tennessee and heard about them that far away. They aren't imaginary. They've been recorded and photographed. They were even in an episode of the X-Files. The only speculation about them is their cause.

You'll find more if you google "brown mountain lights."

i am up on the Blue Ridge Parkway. My friend and I are neighbors and we both have liberties and we both display LOST stickers. I see a LOT of liberties in the area but never seen anyone else w/any stickers. Most of you guys in the Carolina LOST are down in raleigh/durham area. Thats the only reason I didnt join before because I couldnt goto any of your outings..etc.. I heard there isnt much now at brown mountain for trails. There are tons in Murphy I think and I have seen some in TN. I usually just take most national forest trail roads *when open* and checkout any trails that lead off from there. I just wish I had more time to look for more been real busy lately :(

True, the active ones are, but we have to wheel up in the mountains, which makes you closer to the action.

We haven't taken the Liberty, yet. Looks like its first off road trip will be Carolina beach in a couple of weeks. My son's band schedule is killing us. :D

We're still around - went wheelin down at Uwharrie a few weekends ago. Not as much fun as wheeling in a group is, but Chris had to test out his TJ. We're ready to go anytime, either to UNF or up to the mountains, just let us know when.

Guess you won't be able to make the OBX Run this weekend.

Uwharrie closes for the winter in November and it's usually the roughest time of year for the trails. I'll be up in Virginia in 2 weeks for peak (not sure how good it will be, because of lack of rain), then I'll be heading up to Virginia to meat the Mid-Atlantic group for some easy trailing.

Too bad somebody doesn't have a larger corn field to run through. That would be a great October get together. A Liberty sized cornfield maze.

Yeah, we're gonna miss it by one weekend. My son has a band contest this weekend or we would have done the OBX run. Maybe next year.
