Oli,
With the size of tyres you are running you should have a LOT of rubbing against the pinc weld ( if it hasn't been fattend) and against the wheel arch. Do you experience that? Also do you have any banging noises when you front wheels go over bumps?

Also have you measures to see how high your lift actually is? Please can you, just out of curiosity.

Fil.

the front side looks a bit sagged - lower than it needs to be to run those tires if you can get some conduit nuts - not sure what they'ed be called there but they're a common part for plumbing and what not, stack 3 together and tape them (not necessary but makes it easier) and use them for a gauge of how high your clevis is, you can put them over the shock can in the front and raise the front 3/4 of an inch which will help a bit

Image

the rear isolators that were mentioned earlier look like this: (there's 4 of them taped together just for clarification)

Image

if you are crafty you could make your own out of a big trucks mudflap - may actually be cheaper to do that compared to finding and buying stock rear isolators there

3 layers of the heavy rubber mudflap cut into the same shape as the stock isolator and put on first then put the stock iso on so it's the one in contact with the spring itself should be about right

the mudflaps i'm talking about are the kind you see on big Moog or Oshkosh industrial trucks - the mudflap itself is probably 3 foot long by 2 foot wide and probably an inch thick - i understand the issue of parts availability - you just have to make do with what you have or what you can get

all things considered, with a little tweaking you'll be alright
hope that helps you out some

as pippobug mentioned, beating the pinch weld down will help greatly behind the front wheels - there's also some spots infront of the front tires that get rubbed too near the fog light access doors - or where they'ed usually be if yours doesn't have them - usually can tell where it is due to it being scuffed or really shiny from the tire buffing it

you can soften the plastic and push it farther forward with a heat gun, or if you don't have a heat gun you can try gently warming the head of a big hammer and use that - or just cut it out of the way but I typically try to keep as much plastic shielding on as possible, makes the clean up after getting dirty a bit easier :)

sounds good, hope you don't mind i borrowed one of your pics and highlighted the measurement locations that we usually use to measure our four corners

thought a picture might clear up any questions related to the measuring

Fil, if he needs to find 4 rear isolators on the scrapyard he needs to find 2 totalled KJ's.

Jeepinbyal has them

Then you're almost 10 Cm's lower then ours....so that's not a lift.

Actually surprised you can drive it at that height
if my calculations are right you're lower than stock height
yep no lift at all you're lowered

17.7 and 18 inches is like, stock sagged - its about 5cm lower than fresh stock - give or take

I wonder of those Eibach coils are from the Eibach lowering kit for the KJ's

The previous owner or someone could have screwed up and ordered the wrong stuff at some point?

I think the Eibach lowering kit lowers it by 1.2-1.5 inches

I'm surprised it doesn't rub more than it does, i had 255-70-16s at that height and they rubbed pretty bad at about half lock when turning until i clearanced stuff out of the way - but I drove it like that for about 10k

Are you sure of you measurements?

I suggest you can get in contact with the following suppiers of Jeep suspention equipment in Germany and see if you can get a new set of Spring to lift your KJ:

For H&R springs for CRD: Lift 1.5 inc

tuningtrend.de
GEBHARDT Marketing & Service GmbH
Neulandstrasse 28/1
74889 Sinsheim
Telefon: +49 (0) 7261-920 116
Telefax: +49 (0) 7261-920 110
E-Mail: info@tuningtrend.de
Internet: http://www.tuningtrend.net

Or
Taubenreuther GmbH | Am Schwimmbad 8 | 95326 Kulmbach
Telefon: (0 92 21) 95 62 - 0 | Telefax: (0 92 21) 95 62 - 22
http://www.taubenreuther.de/Kontakt.htm
They stock OLD MAN EMU choise of springs and shocks to lift up to 2.5 inc (I had part of my suspention shipped from Germany to the UK office).

hope this help with getting the parts you might need.
Other option is to change the tyre back to something smaller like 245/75R16 or 265/70R16.

I checked the measurements
front: 50cm
rear: 51cm
sorry for the wrong measurements, I took the first values from the photo, but this are now the correct values.

In the registration document of the car is a remark called:
"increase vehicle by changes springs DELTA EIBACH 667044 VA/HA, WZ=10/5, blue.

Thanks also for the company links. Taubenreuther is near my hometown, but the people only selling components. I will look for a small jeep company in my area.

Even at those measurements you are less than an inch over stock height so not near enough to run that size of a tire without serious rub. Even adding a clevis lift and rear isos its going to rub
Most of the lifts we've done end up at least 57 cms to clear 245-75s just for comparison

Anything over 245/75/16 (imo) is troublesome. I know some people run 80's but I would never do that. The 75 looks great and doesn't rub after you pound the pinchweld and heat up the inner wheel well+extended bumpstops. (on stock rims they will rub like crazy on the front stabilizer bar! Get spacers or ofset rims..like MOAB's)

Talking CRD KJ here, so shorter left front CV. We cannot lift as high as we would like to...

Oli, as pipobug already said, you can solve your problem by simply adding bumpstops to the rear axle.

I cannot tell you if or when your front diff is going to explode though....the 2.8 2005+ manual has 3.55 gears...not realy a good combo with almost 32" tires...

What does this mean:
"I cannot tell you if or when your front diff is going to explode though....the 2.8 2005+ manual has 3.55 gears...not realy a good combo with almost 32" tires..."
Maybe can I have a scound problem with this big tires?

Oli,
What TonyCRD it telling you is that in the long run you might well have. Every one that fits 265/75R16 or 32" tyre changes the gear ratio in the differentials to 4.10 from 3.55 (to long) to ease up pressure on the axels and to bring back performance in line. If you still want to stay with these tyres you might want to start thinking about that in the long run.

Did you buy the KJ with those tyres on? if not I am sure you must have seen some drop in performance, slower in picking up speed and needing to change gear more ofter up hill. Also fuel consumpition must be up and the speedo must be out to, showing you are going slower that what you are actually doing.

yes, I bought this car with this configuration, and of course I could not see any changes in performance. Before I had a complete other car.

Oh oh, a lot of things to do, I hope I will find in the next days a good garage to
- to solve the rubbing problem, maybe more lift
- change the tires to 265/70, is this tire size ok?

Oli,
yes, you have a lot of things to consider now. Can you go and test drive a stock KJ CRD at a dealer? you will see the difference immediately.

265/70R16 will be a lot better or 245/75R16 that are narrower, but you will still need to have a lift of some sort and bumpstops at the back (& front to possibly, but seem you don't have any rubbing so...).

I suppose you need to find some prices out (Tyre & Lift kit) and make some decission. As you see help is available here.
