Here are a couple more I took with my crappy phone camera on Saturday. If we get it installed this weekend, I'll take some good pictures with a real camera.

Troyster,

I am wondering if the "Pod" where the turn signal is could not be fabbed as a Bolt on item so that the basic body of the bumper could be used on a 05-07. Have the Pod as an option for 02-04 and the void in the grille.

Have other holes pre-cut in the bumper for aftermarket turn/marker lights, kind of like ARB's but different, and have the pods be either soild steel or not there at all for 05-07 models.

Maybe make the Pod a ram air port for the 02-04's and fab in the bumper the turn/marker lights.

Sorry bout my ramblins.

Boxes?.... We Don't Need No Stinkin Boxes!!!!

Sorry wrong movie.

I was just wonderin. I am not sure if there is ANY difference in the actual mounting of all the 02-07's. It is my uneducated impression that the cosmetic grille and fenders are the only difference. A cool bumper that addresses that WITHOUT having to cut anything plastic would do well i think.

That thing is looking good! I like how it doesn't stick way out. Good approach angle.

Jason's better qualified to answer those questions, but here's what I do know:

The mounts for the bumper are almost the same for the '02-'04 as for the '05-'07. Jason is using the same mount, but he may have had to drill the holes in a slightly different spot. But the basic bumper is exactly the same.

I think Jason plans to weld the "pods" onto the basic bumper, but a bolt-on option is interesting.

I don't think there would be much interest in a bumper that doesn't require any cutting on an '02-'04 KJ, because one of the major objectives is to improve approach angle, and the stock fenders are a real problem. That's why I cut my bumper and fenders before I did Golden Spike last year--I didn't want to be grinding away the fenders on the rocks.

Cutting the fenders and getting them just right is a real pain, though. Probably the most time-consuming and nerve-wracking part of installing any aftermarket bumper on an '02-'04 KJ.

The good news for '05-'07 KJ owners, though, is that Jason has reworked the bumper for those models so that no cutting is required. (Lucky!)

To be honest, you'll get a much better approach angle with Rock Lizard's front bumpers, but this bumper certainly is a big improvement over stock. And, as I mentioned in an earlier post, I like not having to relocate the washer bottle. And there are some aesthetic qualities (integrated fog lights, incorporation of stock turn signals) that make it stand out from the rest.

I've really enjoyed watching Jason work on this thing. I was a little surprised to learn how much of what he does is artistry vs. technical. The complex angles he puts on the base bumper is very technical, but the accents that he adds and the "pods" for the turn signals are almost pure artistry. It's all very impressive.

Here’s a closer look at the RL front bumper. You can see that the approach angle is greatly increased.

Yes, you certainly will. :D :D :D

BTW...we've moved '02-'04 model-specific discussion to a separate thread:
http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... hp?t=27967

This thread can be used to discuss the '05-'07 model bumper and the general bumper design. The other thread will be used to post pics and design discussion for the '02-'04 model bumper.

I do believe RLs is probably the best there as it does not stick out as much as the other two...

I do know that there is a pretty big difference between the ARB and RL as far as approach. The ARB sticks way out there thus reducing the approach angle.
