OK, I've been screwin off on 4 wheel parts' site for a while lookin at winches.

they've got a Mile Marker 9500 lb electric winch for $500, vs the 9,500 lb Warn for $775 (and up), and then there's Ramsey, which seems to split the difference

There IS a sale on the MM's, but seriously, what are the differences? I rarely see anybody use a Mile Marker winch, is there a reason for that?

I know that you can't buy parts for the milemarker winches which really sucks. I would go with Warn or T-Max, both are reliable and you can get parts for them down the road. It's better to buy a quality winch and have it last a long time.

Just visit Mile Marker's website and learn more about them.

http://www.milemarker.com/

The most common name brands aren't always the best. Do your research.

I actually had JUST read their warranty policy on the MM electric winches.

if they won't back the winch's durability under "normal" use, I won't buy it. it's only against materials/workmanship.
*EDIT*

well crap...no other winch company offers any "real" warranty either...

I got a milemarker, because I have seen a lot of them used and very abused and never seen one fail yet (on HMMWV's and Deuce and ahalfs) All filled with mud and or sand, not maintained properly, and they worked flawlessly... Well except for a cable that snapped, but we were trying to pull out a 5 ton truck with a 9000lb winch

The only other winch I have ever seen in action was a warn (do not remember what model) and it free spooled fine, but would not pull at all. Its motor had gotten wet in an earlier water crossing, so I do not know if the connectors got wet or were corroded or what the issue was.

What do you mean by "real" warranty? You are talkig about a motor that can be used, abused, and left out in the elements. Car manufacturers don't offer "real" warranties either from my guess of what you mean by "real."

LOL yeah, I actually thought about what I said, and decided I came across as a total goon, LOL.

Upon reconsideration...I've decided on the MM SE9500.
