At 20k miles, I can get 31MPG on a flat highway (32 with a tailwind). I can also get down to 19MPG when I spend a whole tank doing WOT red-light launches and rush-hour burst acceleration. Turbo-equipped vehicles (gas and diesel) can have drastically different MPG ratings depending on driving style.

My second tank is going alot better, I have over 250 miles on it and it's still showing above 1/2 tank on the gauge.
The second half of the gauge is a bit smaller than the first half. I remember the first few times I saw 250 at 1/2 tank. Man was I psyched. Doesn't always end up being a 500 mile tank though. Don't worry, as everyone else has stated, you bought the truck right at the beginning of winter (which is what I did last year). You're mileage will stay low (relative to your expectations) until the winter blend stuff is gone. Then, one day next spring, you'll be going over your budget and you're realize that your wife's Miata needs more fuel money per month than your truck. Oh, wait...that was me!

I think I found the trick.

Keep the wife out of the driver seat
Ha!
My wife got pulled over by the MD State Police the first time she drove the Jeep.
