I was thinking something like this would be better for a direct replacement, with a 2 micron filter of course.

Agreed (except I already bought a CAT converter). Any idea how much the replacement media is for the racor units?
One thing of note is that the even though the factory filter head (and it's plastic hockey puck for sensors) stinks, it's necessary for the fuel temp sensor which the ECM uses for adjustments to fuel quantity and injection timing.SO, we'd have to account for that in a 1-to-1 swap, which was why I thought a small accessory filter might make more sense.
The low pressure pump runs at a variable speed and according to the manual, can reach 73psi inbound to the high-pressure pump. I don't know if the draw rate is that much in the fuel lines, but the RACOR units seem to have a max of 30 PSI. I suppose I could take a pressure reading at the bleeder while the engine is running to find out. I'd really like to know what the operational flow rate is at WOT since that's a limiting factor too.
