http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/14/jeep-j8-marks-brands-return-to-military-duty/ I know we've seen the JK overseas with the CRD option. -"Sorry, no civilian sales will be offered."
Originally, I was holding out for the Diesel TJ to come to the states. But this is just as good, I should go but some stock in VM Motori! They've been blowin' up lately.

Um I don't see it being used for the US Military. it just cannot support the weight and adaptability the US military needs.

I would think that would sell like hot cakes in the US. Emissions must be the reason the emgine isn't offered in the US.

Yeah, not exactly a combat vehicle.
Will probably be made available through the GSA fleet and used for base
support (i.e. security) operations.

On the other hand, its not uncommon for soldiers operating "sterile" to be
riding in a Pajero or Defender 90. So, who knows.

flash7210 you never replied to my PM's.

I can see it in the GSA/IFMS sytem as well. The version they showed was also Right Hand Drive. if the Pajero had beeen offered in the US in a diesel, I would have bought it over the Jeep. I know in Kuwait they took a beating in the desert. Unlike the Durango that died the first day.

And yes, I LOVE the idea of a small diesel truck!

On a more serious note, I think this tells us something. The equity fund owners are going to have the Feds, or other government worldwide, bail this company out again via fleet vehicles so that they can take it pubilc and cash in. Nothing wrong with capitalism, I just hope the feds are sold quality and not sold a bunch of  errrr manure.

Be interesting to see if they include the EGR system in the military spec vehicle. If not, what type of work around they have to eliminate it and what type of ECU programming they use if they delete the EGR.

There are both regulated (EGR) and non-regulated (no EGR, MAF, etc) of the J8, depending on the market in which it will be sold and the restrictions contained therein. When disabling the EGR in the proper manner, a model of the air system must then be calibrated based on not having the EGR flow so that the certain functions such as smoke limitations, vgt functions, etc. still work properly. The calibration between reg and non-reg versions is vastly different so it's just not a simple software switch to make it like a dream.

Can we assume the deregulated version is minus the cat as well?
