It's a black container that you install in the engine bay and connect to the air conditioner to keep your beers cold

No it's a CCV system that prevents oil going through your CAC.

More properly, it's a filter that goes in the CCV hose between the outlet on the valve cover and where it connects to the air intake before the turbo. Filters out the oil vapor from the blowby gases to keep it from collecting in your intercooler, and from mixing with soot to form black gunk deposits in your intake manifold.

How often should we need to change the filter on our Provents?

Filters are supposed to be rated for a year's service life on a 500 HP diesel generator. Air Now Supply and Reliable Industries both said, more or less seriously, that with our size engine it would probably be 2 or 3 years before I needed to buy a replacement filter.

I've heard of several people that clean their filter element on a semi-yearly basis by spraying them with brake parts cleaner, blotting off the excess cleaner and oil, then letting them air dry before reinstalling them.

I fill the center of the filter with diesel fuel and shake it; fill it up again and do the samething until the fuel come clear. -It does not take that much fuel-. and then i dried it with a rag.
