Around March I brought my CRD in for service because it was vibrating extremely harshly upon startup. It was like being in a cement mixer. The dealer told me that the vibration was snow packed under the engine. They offered to do F37 and I decided to let them do it. After that up until recently I have only really driven the truck a few miles a day. Well, I went on a large trip, 1k miles and noticed from a dead stop the sometimes I get this harsh vibration from the floor of the driver side. Like the tranny is vibrating against the floor. I went under the truck with a creeper and everything looked ok and the tranny mount didn't look damaged. So I'm unsure what could be causing the issue except maybe a bad motor mount. My dealer charges $90 just to look at it, so I figured I'd bounce this off you guys first.

Also do all 2005's have the 7/70k powertrain warranty or only special ones?

thanks adam

If your not the first owner you have to have the warranty transfered to you (pay money) It seems there's not much it covers though.

As far as your vibration. There have been some loose motor mount bolts

Mine will do this coming to a stop. Harsh vibration in the cabin. If I do a quick stop, where you get a little "backlash", I hear a click then it idles smooth as can be. I can also have it vibrating and put the front wheel over the bump to leave the driveway, hear the click and hard vibration is gone. It's like all I have to do is slightly torque the front end of the vehicle, I hear the click, and the vibration is gone. I'm thinking it is a motor mount, but I would love to be sure it is before I change it.

There are a good number of thunking sounds that are related to the motor mount nuts being just loose enough to allow it to move and pop.

Retorqueing both the upper and lower nuts is free and may potentially cure problems.

You can try to tighten the mounts, that's not too hard.

My mount wasn't loose though, I ended up having to replace the right mount. Below is a link to follow with some background info. You can read the threads associated with these links and follow my other message links for everything I know about the subject. :) (Goes backward from "how to replace it" being the first subject.) 8)

Mine was broken about a year ago. Dealer replaced under warrenty. It's not like it's uncommon.
