I have a new fancy electronic boost gauge (from Prosport) that I am about to install.

http://01f6bbb.netsolstores.com/amber-white-premium-electric-boost-gauge.aspx

I have read through patracy's posting on the putting the gauges on his KJ. My problem is that the wiring loom must have been moved because I cannot access the raised boss that he tapped. I am going to have to tap the intake manifold and I would like a suggestion on where the best place might be to do that.

The boost gauge installation instructions seem to assume that everyone has some existing line to 'T' into, and I certainly can't find one on the KJ (well not around the intake body).

I have a 1/8 NPT fitting (that was out of a kit for an oil line extension for another vehicle), which I have drilled out to suit the inside diameter of the boost gauge hose (1/8'). It includes an olive so I'll be bale to clamp the line with the crew on cap. No elbow though so I need to be able to route the hose in a nice arch to the firewall where the electonic sender unit is located.

Finally, what drill bit size is the best for a 1/8 NPT 27 tap?

:?

I have the same gauge. I just drilled and tapped into the intake elbow. Took all of 5 minutes. However, I believe my gauge is about 5lbs off as it sits anywhere from 4-6lbs of boost at idle depending on the outside temperature. Maybe that's because it rolled around in the back of the jeep for about 10 months?

Intake elbow? Where is that on the intake body?

If you are standing at the front of the vehicle, its on the right hand side. Follow the intercooler hose on the right, and it'll take you to it and you should see it. It'll be easier if you remove the engine cover.

This is where I put it. I could not get to the elbow and the tapped boss was unworkable because the loom was covering it and even after removing the loom hold down screws I could not move it enough to drill it. As my fitting is brass I plan to coat it with one of those dissimilar metal protectors as soon as the Locktite is cured. I threw out that cheap PVC hose supplied by Prosport and picked up some good nylon tubing. Full write up will come when I finish it off.
