x20000 on removing the bracket. When I sent my ECU to GDE, I removed the 4 bolts. Can you say hassle? There's a wire bundle that runs directly in front of the bottom bolts, making access very difficult.
Here's how you remove the entire bracket the ECU is bolted to:
Unlatch and remove the bundles plugged in on the rear-facing side of the ECU, and move them up and out of your way. (I tucked mine behind the brake booster).
If you are standing at the front driver's side fender, look on the left side of the ECU. (toward the headlight) About 6 inches from the ECU are two 10 mm bolts that attach the bracket to the inner fender. Remove these two bolts, and the entire bracket slides out of a slot cut into the inner fender. THEN remove the four 8 mm bolts holding the ECU to the bracket, replace the ECU with your new awesomeness, and reverse the process.
Put your core in the mail back to GDE, and go out to "wash out the catalytic converter." (i.e., stomp the skinny pedal to remove built-up soot from the cat

)
