Is anyone concerned about the raw metal parts under the front end and the drive shafts, etc. I would like to preserve them. Has anyone already done it and what did you use to do it?

Are you looking to guard them against off-road damage or protect them from corrosion?

I wouldn't recommend this to everyone but I took mine from the dealer staight to the local Ziebart shop. But I run through unimaginable amount of road salt. A good example, just noticed today that I have salt leaching through the rivits (tie-downs) in the rear cargo area.

I had mine underpainted. When I got it inspected (for PA registration) by my indy mechanic, he immediately noticed the bare metal and suggested it. But I drive it a lot in the winter in a major salt and slushy-muck area. Not sure how necessary it would be in a less potent region.

Currently I live in the Metro Atlanta area so salt isn't a problem. Planning on moving to Tennessee and salt could be an issue. Plan on keeping car for 10 years. Mostly corrosion and since I pull my own maintenance I don't like the full undercoat treatment. But, that may be an option.

Thanks :D

Not living up North so I am not familiar with underpainting. Will have to research that.

Thanks for the input :D
