gde tunes are definitely better.
Observation based only on oil cleanness factor???
Some real facts (numbers or data) to make real comparisons would be nice?

Oil cleanness is a very good indicator, I'm not sure why you say "only" cleanness, as not only me, but several other sources, including gde, mentions that partial burn caused by too much fuel leads to black oil. So having a clean oil is a clear indicator of a properly running engine and fuel system. For me, that's a huge point. I haven't seen any Diesel engine with an oil so clean like the Crd with gde tune.
Side of oil aspect, there is the mileage and torque, don't know if gde is better in those than custom free tunes (I'm not even sure if the authors had the possibility to measure the torque) because I haven't tried a free tune, i already had the gde tune when the free tunes were available, and considering that I already paid for it, it's no feasible for me to risk trying a tune that I know from the beginning that can't keep the oil cleaner than gde (you said it yourself), I don't see the point. I have never compared the free tunes with gde, but "only" considering oil cleanness I'd go with gde hands down. In the same time, you have no proof either than the custom tunes are better than gde, but if you do, I'll definitely appreciate to lay out your arguments.
To summarize, I am not trying to sell anybody on gde tunes, nor I try to imply that custom tunes are not good and I believe that people should feel free to use whatever they want. I just want to lay out another opinion and idea, as a very happy gde tune user. I haven't heard of anybody unhappy with gde tunes, side of probably people that got one of the gde tunes hoping they'll get the mileage of a Jetta tdi or the torque of a cummins... I also prefer to go with a proven tune, made by a company that stands behind it anytime, it is just a safer option for me. So obviously, there are pros and cons to each, but just the fact that some people prefer the free option doesn't mean that the paid option can't be better.
