I don't know the details of the test, but I do know he passed. I sold him my jeep with the weeks 1-2 kit installed. It also has a custom gde tune for the delete and is the lite ecotune.

I know when I lived in Massachusetts, they hooked the emissions computer to my Jeep and it didn't actually have any tests to run on it, it just passed it. This was with a gde tune but did have my egr in place at the time.

This is as expected. Even in Kaliforniastan, land of abusive anti-diesel sentiments and dreams of weedeaters with catalytic converters....

If they barely know that a diesel Jeep exists, what makes anyone think that they would even have the first clue where to look for the EGR valve on one? Looking under the body with a mirror for the cat on the exhaust pipe and checking the computer for "readiness" and any active codes is all that 80%% of the testing out there would do. The other 20% may also do the sniff test with or without a dyno... But I'd be stunned if they did more than that. There are just too many options out there for engines. Look at how long VW got away with it, as did all the other manufacturers that have been cheating.

As long as the idiot light isn't on when (if) you have to go for a test or inspection... You are good.

Right on! So very glad that the majority of CRD owners do not have to put up with those tree hugging tailpipe sniffing idiots....
EGR anonymous; EGR's on Diesel Engines is pure EVIL and serve no worthwhile purpose!

FYI -

the EGR affects NOx emissions

state emission checkers - only measure CO2

NOx requires special high end testers that EPA has, but are considered too expensive and too difficult for the state annual tests.

as technologies change - that may change.

(If I can find the link I'll post it - but I read that about 6-8 years ago)

The EGR only minimally affects NOx at idle, it is more of a power use issue which is why the EPA testing had to use dynos and why the VWs could detect when they were on a dyno and change the emission profiles. Now that seriously increases the costs for states b/c installing a dyno takes a lot of physical space and technology, which they won't care as much about for such a limited benefit. I'm not worried about that.
