I called Chrysler dealer yesterday and got a appointment for my 05 jeep crd to look at the tc . I was having trouble with it slipping a little when cruising at 55 on the high way. I was wondering if the is a way to make it shudder hard if they take it for a road test. So they can feel it. They said that if it was bad they would replace it free.
thanks

To test:
Increase vehicle speed to above 62 mph and allow transmission to shift into final high gear with TC in lockup, then on a hill or incline while staying above 58 mph in high gear with TC in lockup try to accelerate vehicle to a faster speed.
If TC is bad, it will shudder as clutches inside TC start to slip and chatter...much like a straight shift clutch slipping....

How did you get them to offer a free replacement ? 2 things I like are road trips and free torque converters. I need the name of this dealership

Well i got my jeep looked at to day. The tech drove it and could not get it to shudder, but the speed limit was 50 so he could not get fast enough to do that ( it started to shudder at 55). Then i drove it with the tech and got it to do it a little . He said that he though it could be shudder so he tried to pull codes and got nothing so they put a additive in and sent me home. They also said to come back if it started to do it harder and they would look at it again. for a possible tc replacement. :D :D :JEEPIN:

Sorry to hear that; unfortunately there is NO additive or magic elixir in the world that will cure torque converter clutch slippage once they get worn and start to chatter or shudder as some call it!!! I know, I tried a lot of things on my Dodge Cummins with two different converters before I bit the bullet and purchased the bullet proof SunCoast TC for it. Never had a problem since! That is why I chose the SunCoast TC for my Jeep CRD.... Sometimes it just pays to spend a little extra money to get top quality products...
